"EVERYONE, SHOW TIME IN 8 MINUTES. 8 MINUTES UNTIL SHOW TIME," Mrs. Gonzalez yelled twice. Liam revoked his lips from the connection they had been forming for the past minute. The withdrawal caused my body to shiver, sending goosebumps throughout my entire body. He kissed my forehead and then headed over to the wing of the stage, which is where all the props and costumes are. He picked my bow up from the table, it being larger than his hands.
He returned to me and pushed my hair behind my ears with his free hand. I grabbed the bow from his hands before lifting it to my hairline and putting it on, letting it settle where it was comfortable for me.
"3 MINUTES UNTIL IT'S TIME TO START. TIME TO START IN 3 MINUTES." God how I hated her.
Liam never moved his gaze from mine after giving me my headband. "You look absolutely amazing my princess," he said. Although he was probably used to it, I was grateful for the large amount of makeup that had been caked onto my face because it hid my blushing-cheeks.
The entire cast got together in the middle of what little stage we had behind the curtain and huddled up. We all put our hands together, and chanted "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the greatest school of all?" and as we raised our hands to the sky, we screamed "SCOTTSDALE HIGH FOREVER AND ALWAYS." I have to admit it was very cute, despite how cheesy and cliche it was.
I took my position in center stage, waiting for the back-lights to disappear and the curtain to rise. This wasn't Liam's time to shine, nor was it mine.
It was our time to shine, together.
-------------------------------------------
It was over. Everything we had worked on for the past two months was finally over, and I couldn't be more ecstatic about it. The only benefit about doing this stupid play was getting to see Liam every day after school.
Like I tend to do with stressful situations, I don't really remember performing tonight. But, I do remember the curtains opening and seeing a familiar face in the second row. Chelsea had come to support me! I've been feeling extremely guilty lately because ever since I had started dating Liam, I had basically been ignoring her, but not purposefully. Just whenever she wanted to hang out, I had already made plans with Liam to do something that interested me more. Well, anything would interest me more as long as he was there. And then I saw someone else I thought I knew sitting directly in front of her. It took a moment for it to click in my head because there was so much going on in there, but when it did, I had to control myself from jumping up-and-down right there. Robby had come to see Liam.
After the show, I ended up in one wing and Liam was in the other. I ran across the stage to get to the other side, where he welcomed me with his open arms before pulling me into a tight hug. Liam was amazing on stage. I could feel his passion for acting radiate off of him as he recited his memorized words, carefully pronouncing them to make sure he didn't make a single mistake, which he didn't. I couldn't wait to see what Robby had to say about him.
We stood there hugging for a good minute before he let go, doing a complete 180 degree turn, facing his back to me. He picked something up from the prop table before spinning around once again. He had a bouquet of a dozen red roses in his hands, just like he had on our first date. I could've stayed there with him forever, but I wanted him to talk to Robby, so I grabbed his hand and pushed our way through the crowd of cast members before finding the exit door.
We walked down the same steps we had walked up just months before when this stranger convinced me to audition for this crazy thing. But I am so grateful he did.
I searched the crowd for a few seconds before finding him seated in the same seat I had seen him in from my position on the stage. I made my way over there, never loosening my grip on Liam's rough-yet-tender hand. Robby saw me approaching and turned his body towards me, not making any effort to get up.
