Chapter 1: The End
We all die sometime. Most people don't know when they have reached the final day of their life here. When a person dies, they aren't the only one who dies. A piece of those who care for them die too . . .
Which brings us to the Chase family. Emma Chase, the mother of five and widow to Paul Chase who passed away four years ago. Emma lives with her two youngest children, Arnel and Lorelei. Arnel is 21 years old and isn't sure about his future. And Lorelei is the youngest of the five Chase siblings at age fifteen. Lorelei is on Summer break after finishing her Freshman year of High School. Her problems consist of the usual teen girl drama. Elden Chase is the oldest at age 37 and is married to Susan. After Paul had passed away, Elden took over the company he owned. And there is the second oldest, Gina. Gina is pregnant and already has two sons. Her boyfriend and the father of all of her children is named Andre. And finally there comes the middle child, aged 25 and living house to house. His name, is David Chase.
David: Give it to me now baby.
Jayde: Ok. Here, sheesh.
She passes David the syringe, and he uses it to shoot heroin up through his arm. David and his girlfriend Jayde, are heroin addicts in a crackhouse. They are a couple that once was attractive, but have completely let themselves go. Their arms are covered with marks and bruises from injecting themselves. They have dirty clothes, dirty hair, and even their skin isn't as nice as it used to be. Heroin addiction has taken over the lives of David and Jayde. And once these two (and whoever else they're using with) finish the drugs they have. . .
David: We need more. I'll call Robbie.
Back at the Chase house, Lorelei is in her room talking with her best friend Nicole.
Lorelei: I need to talk to Kevin this Summer. I know he hangs out at the mall, but he doesn't get there until late though.
Nicole: Lorelei you SOOO have the hots for him! Settle down girl, we'll go there soon. And you better not accidentally bump into anything again like before HAHAHAHAHA!
Lorelei: Shut up! I will NOT do that again. Today will be a lot better. . . I hope.
And in the kitchen Emma and Arnel are in the middle of a conversation.
Emma: You NEED to start looking for a job soon.
Arnel: I AM. That's why I'm going to the mall today, to fill out job applications.
Emma: And make sure your sister is ok. I'm not saying you have to watch her the whole time, but just check up on her here and there. You know how guys can be perverts at the mall.
Arnel: I know. I'll make sure she's ok.
Emma: And have you heard from your brother lately?
Arnel: Elden? Not since he last stopped over about two days ago.
Emma: I meant David.
Arnel: Mom, you know we never hear anything from David. And if any of us did, you'd be the first person to tell.
Emma looks out the window, and wonders how her son David is doing. Unfortunately, David is just trying to get his drugs.
David: We got the money. Just bring the stuff over, and we're all good. . . I know we owe you, but we got the money for last time and today. Just, I really need it bad. Bring it over, and we got the money.
After hanging up the phone. . .
Jayde: So what'd he say? Are we getting our stuff or what?
David: Yeah, but we need some money. Or maybe we can steal something from the store. Let's go.
