Chapter 4

Natawa si Nyx at parang nagising siya sa narinig niya.

"You think buying an island for her would make her happy? Ni hindi nga lumalabas ng bahay 'yon o nagpapaaraw tapos bibilhin mo ng isla? Naging bobo ka ba doon sa Japan, ha?" Naririnig pa rin ni Ice ang inis sa boses ni Nyx.

"You intentionally used her trigger word. I could get you killed for that if you're somebody else. Magpasalamat ka sa mga bituin at ipinanganak kang Imperial," Nyx said.

"Well, what does she like? I want to give her a peace offering." Halos lumukot ang mukha ni Nyx dahil sa sinabi nito. "Wow, sa akin ka pa talaga manghihingi ng advice?" natatawang tanong nito.

"You know her best. I've been gone for five years," sabi ni Ice sa kabilang linya.

"Don't lie to me. I know you kept tabs of her from your people," walang ganang sabi ni Nyx at naghikab pa.

"Bahala ka na mag-isip. If you disturb me again, I'll fucking kill you."

Tiningnan ni Ice ang cellphone niya noong pinatay na ni Nyx ang tawag. He got up from his seat at lumapit sa shelf ng bahay niya. Even though he hasn't been in this place for five years, his belongings were kept clean and spotless by his house attendants. Tiningnan niya ang mga larawan nilang dalawa ni Saph. May mga naka-frame din silang larawan nina Nyx noong mga bata pa sila.

As the only son of the Imperial clan, Ice was naturally introduced to the Tanakas. The Imperials have served the Tanakas for as long as Ice's ancestors could remember. They were not below the Tanakas, nor above them. Hindi rin sila magka-level ng mga Tanaka.

The Tanakas have a special position in their society that no one can reach or surpass.

Sabay na lumaki si Ice kasama sina Saph. To Ice, he was aware that his relationship with the twins was born out of connections and was purely business. Nyx thinks so too, but over time, they agreed to deepen their friendship.

Saph was the only one who thought that they were actual friends from the start. She was not aware of any business schemes. She just saw Ice as a childhood friend from a close family.

Huminto ang mga mata ni Ice sa isang larawan nila ni Saph na may hawak-hawak itong stuff toy na grizzly bear. "Right, she likes grizzlies," sabi niya at kinuha ang cellphone niya at naramdaman niya rin sa bulsa niya ang keychain na binigay ni Saph sa kanya.

The keychain was a grizzly bear too.

"Permission to speak, young master." Tumingin si Ice sa driver niya na nandoon pa pala sa sala.

"Kuya Manong, you can always speak whenever you want," sabi niya rito at binalik ang tingin sa cellphone niya. "I don't think there's such things as a domestic bear. They're dangerous pets. The young lady Tanaka might be harmed by your peace offering at baka lumala pa po ang sitwasyon," mahinahong sabi nito.

"I appreciate the concern, Kuya Manong. But it's fine. I'm getting a cub. And besides, the Tanakas fancy weird things. A grizzly cub for a pet is normal," sabi niya at ibinaba na ang cellphone niya tsaka tumingin sa driver niya.

"Matulog po kayo ng maaga. We have to pick-up the bear tomorrow. You can use any rooms available in this house," inaantok na sabi nito at umakyat na. Narinig pa ni Ice ang pagpapasalamat ng driver niya kaya napangiti na lang siya at pumasok na sa kwarto niya.

It was nine in the morning when Ice arrived at his destination. His driver parked the car in front of a pet shop. Ice knew that he was far too early dahil kakabukas palang ng pet shop. Lumabas na siya sa kotse niya at naglakad papunta sa babae na itinataas ang rolling steel shutters.
