JADE
A small groan left my lips as I lifted the big box full of new weapons. The fairies had made a whole dose of weapons that we could use in our fight against Shadow once we were back in the real world.
It seemed weird to think about it. I had been on Neverland for half a year now, and I had grown used to the abnormal life here. Going back, I had to make sure to catch up on everything that I had missed out on. And that was not just school.
I lifted another heavy box from the small truck like thing in front of me. It was basically a big, thick wooden plank on wheels. I lost my balance though and almost dropped the box when two hands got ahold of it.
I looked up and stared straight into Nate's magnificent deep blue eyes. His brown hair had fallen in front of them slightly. Nate took the box from me and stood up. I cleared my throat and looked away for a second. Unlike Alek, things were still tense between Nate and me. We hadn't talked to each other since the Fairy Ball and I died a little bit more inside every time I saw him.
Nate tried to shake his hair away from his eyes, failing. I reached out and pushed it away for him. Gosh, he looked like an Australian, model surfer.
"There you go." I said, forcing a smile.
Nate smiled for a split second before turning his back on me and walking away.
"Harsh much." A voice spoke up from beside me.
I looked to my left to see a fairy stand beside me. She had short black hair and dark brown eyes. She looked like one of those badass female heroes in the movies. A sharp jawline and clear face with amazing bone structure. I felt a pang of jealousy coming over me.
"That's Nate." I sighed, looking at his well build back.
The fairy chuckled before holding her hand out to me.
"I'm Shayla." She introduced herself.
Damn it, even her name was cool...
"Jade." I said, shaking her hand.
"I know. You were the one who stunned everyone at the Fairy Ball." Shayla replied, smirking.
I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
Did she really remember me like that? Huh, that was pretty awesome.
"But I also know you since you're Pan's daughter." She added.
And there goes my moment of pride and confidence...
"Oh, right." I forced another smile.
"I'm sorry but, I have never seen you around before. How come?" I asked her as we both took another box in our hands.
"Must be because I train, mostly. Or I work at the fairy dust company. That dust isn't easy to make so I spend most days inside." Shayla explained.
"I see." I muttered.
We started talking and I realised that she really was a very interesting and adventurous person. She loved to fight and spend her free time, teasing the elfs and trolls. She was a fairy of the earth, loved creating things, just like Tinkerbell. I felt like a goody two shoes standing next to her.
"I think that was it. Do you want to grab something to drink before we continue?" Shayla suggested as we placed the last boxes in the conference hall.
"Sure." I replied, smiling.
Suddenly, someone bumped into Shayla. We both turned around and my heart skipped a beat when I saw Nate.
"Sorry I- Shayla?" Nate said, looking at the beautiful badass fairy standing next to me.
"Hi there Mate." Shayla winked.
