My eyes took in the surroundings as I searched for a way to get my family, the Lost Boys, out of the sticky and dangerous situation we were in. Guilt had formed in the pit of my stomach as I slowly began to realise that I was yet again the reason for this whole happening. But I couldn't think negatively right now. I had to make things right! The scream and shaking had stopped and even though I was curious to find out what had caused the commotion, I had to make sure we got out alive.
"Morute, think carefully about your actions." Said my mother who took a step forward.
The indians tensed up by her movement and she quickly lifted her hands up to reassure them she wasn't going to do anything.
"Grace, you know that you have been a long friend of mine. But not long enough for me to pity you and let you go. You don't know my history with your boyfriend." Morute answered, his hand still in the air, ready to give the order for attack.
My mother closed her mouth, seeming disappointed.
Suddenly, an indian let out a deep sigh and I turned my head to see him look impatient. He caught me staring at him and scowled at me, gripping his dagger tightly in his hands. Morute sushed him and turned to look back at Peter.
"I shall be a good ruler, Pan. That I promise." He spoke up.
Then, the impatient looking indian lunged forward as he let out a battle scream. My eyes widened as I saw him try to attack Theo, heaving his dagger in the air and bringing it down on the Lost Boy only to be stopped by a black shadow figure appearing before him. The dark figure caught the indian's wrist and looked him dead in the eye before grabbing him by his throat and snapping his neck. I let out a shriek as I watched the indian's limp body fall to the ground while the shadow faded into thin air.
Everybody started freaking out, looking at each other panicked and taking about what just happened. Morute seemed shocked and muttered something in his language. Then, one of the indians yelled something and pointed to the trees. Everyone followed his gaze and my mouth formed an 'o' shape as I watched Zen walk out of the bushes.
A sick grin was plastered onto his face and his clothes and boots were ripped. What amazed me most though, were his eyes. They weren't the original dark, almost black, colour. They were a bright, glowy orange instead. Just like Peter's shadow. Just like the Shadow.
"Indians, huh? I was under the impression that you didn't have the guts to show yourselves ever again."
"Especially not since the last time we met." Zen added, looking at Morute in the eyes.
My eyes widened slightly as his voice too, had changed. It was cold. Serious but without any emotion. His words weren't decorated with amusement either. It was just plain.
"Looks like we do have guts after all. I will ban your spirit for good this time, demon." Morute said.
The indians looked scared. They probably thought Zen was long dead. Guess he proved them wrong.
"Demon? Oh, that I'm not." Zen said, stopping a few feet away from us all.
"But I'm going to show you terror greater than hell." He added.
In a quick move, Zen ripped his torn shirt off and started taking slow steps towards the bunch of terrified Indians while a shadow aura began to creep around his body and flow on the ground as behind him as he was walking. I blinked slightly, not believing my eyes. He was so different and not the good kind.
Nate took my hand in his as we both stared at the dark figure, squeezing it slightly.
"Stay back you animal from hell!" Morute ordered.
Ignoring the leader's words, Zen walked a few feet closer to us before one of the terrified indians lunged towards him. With a straight, expressionless face, Zen raised his hand in front of him and a dark aura surrounded the man. Screaming in fear, the man swung his weapon around him to break free from Zen's attack, but his attempts were put to an end as Zen balled his hand into a fist. At this moment the aura surrounding the man began to eat away his flesh and slowly tear his limbs apart and in a few moments there was nothing but ash, covering the indian's bloodied axe that fell to the ground. In a slow pace, Zen walked up to the weapon and picked it up, observing it closely as he held it in his right hand.
Everyone gasped, myself included. I covered my mouth with my hand and tears filled my eyes. Nate turned towards me, his body towering over me as he blocked the view. He grabbed my face and made me look at him.
