Chapter 5:
Aine:
Aine didn't think that Reyn would return so soon. Reading his face like a book she could tell that he didn't want to confess anything about his daughter.
"I saw her in a ball on the floor along with your pawn."
"And this is supposed to help me, how?" Swallowing she could tell that his next words will be true but forced.
"Doesn't it show you her weakness. I mean you also know that she could have an effect on your pawn." Aine thought while she paced knowing full well that what Reyn was saying could possibly be true. Maybe that girl isn't so innocent as she appears. Maybe all of the things and actions she is doing is an act and she is secretly manipulating Nestori.
"What are you thinking?" The concern in his voice was clearly fake but Aine ignored it.
"Get out." Without fighting, Reyn left. Aine had too many things on her mind. I need to start planning the ball and dealing with Ammon, Then there is the problem that it Eloy. Ugh. She needed to start with the things that were most relevant and right now it was the ball and her plan for her powerful reign.
Sitting down at the table near the end of her chamber she spread out the map. The ball had to be in Vepos since it was a rule that the annual ball must be held in the capital city of the country it is held in. She wanted everything to be perfect. Everything had to be perfect in order for Ammon to steal the power. Well, only Aine would get the power, Ammon would just have the title and the world would believe she held power. But Aine would be making the decisions
But then she would have to be able to hide her daughter's failures. In the All and Mighties' castle, the guards would notify an associate if they suspected people weren't following rules.
"Mother, are you alright?"
"What is it Ammon, I'm busy darling."
"Are you working on the ball?" Aine waved her daughter over the table. Ammon leaned over the table to see her mother plans but was instantly confused, she had never seen those documents.
"Mother, what are these papers?" Ammon grabbed the papers not related to the ball. As Aine saw what she was asking about she snatched them. Her plans for what to do with Nestori were almost being discovered by someone.
"They are none of your concern, dear."
"What do you plan for me to do at the ball?" Aine wasn't sure what she wanted to do with her. For a long time, she only thought about her plans for releasing Okeanos of the king's rule, expanding the army plus later plans of her rule. Turning to face her daughter Aine drew her happy face in her. Holding on to her Aine pretended to be excited for Ammon.
"You are going to be wearing this dress made of lizard silk that no one else will have. The All and mightiest's will notice you immediately. You will steal that boy's heart and then some. Once you both are married, I will be your advisor. "
"But I thought I would get the chance to pick my own advisor." The disappointment in her daughter's voice fueled anger that Ammon had never seen. Am I not good enough for her after all of the things that I have done for this girl. Ungrateful little.
"Is that it know? You think that you're too good for me now that you will get this prince everything in your life will be perfect. When you're sitting in that lonely castle just remember who put you there. ME. You think anyone would this for you, sacrifice everything for you? NO! Get out" Stupid girl always saying the wrong thing, doing the wrong thing.
