I didn't sleep a wink last night, I kept tossing and turning while the events of what happened replayed in my head over and over again. At 6 o'clock I give up on trying to sleep, I thoroughly clean my apartment hoping that it will clear my mind but it doesn't work. I decide to get ready and leave the house an hour earlier than I need so I can grab a coffee before my lecture. The train ride is short and there is barely anyone on campus, I head towards the campus cafe and order a cappuccino, hoping that it would see me through the day. I choose a seat by the window and put my earphones in drowning out the background noise and pull out a book to pass away time.
After what felt like 10 minutes I see the chair in front of me move, I reluctantly remove my eyes from my book and look up at who it is.
"Matt" I say blankly without pulling out my earphones
"can I sit?" he asks hesitantly
I shrug looking back at my book, i'm not in the mood to talk, especially to him
"So how are you?" He tries to make conversation
"good" I reply blandly
There's a little awkward silence. I sigh giving up, pull out my earphones unwillingly and stare at him "I am a little bit pissed at you actually"
"I know you are and I'm sorry but you're the one that overslept on me" he defends himself
"Yeah that's true and I'm sorry for that, but you didn't even tell me that Theo was coming to the dinner then when I get there you hardly talk to me, you were too busy drooling over Olive"
He scratches the back of his neck and looks out the window, I know something is up
"why?" I ask him
"Why what?"
"Why did you invite Theo and not tell me, then make me sit next to him?!"
Matt is so annoying he knows everything that went on with Theo and I over summer, I told him one night when alcohol got the better of me, but it made us closer and he ended up telling me about Olivia. So he knows very well that he should have told me about Theo coming.
"don't be mad at me Steph, he made me okay?"
"Sorry?" I'm so confused, what is he talking about
"Well I was with Theo in the morning an-"
"What? Why?"
"err he's my friend, remember we've known each other for years" he says as if it is obvious
"oh yeah" I say blushing a little "go on"
"Yeah so I mentioned that I was seeing you for lunch, then he practically blackmailed me to let him come without telling you"
"Blackmailed?"
"Yeah he said something about you not talking to him and him wanting to see you... what is that even about by the way? I didn't know that you guys were friends in the first place"
Sounds like something Theo would do "yeah we sort of became friends after your party, then he did something stupid but it's alright now" I say "what are you doing at our uni anyway?"
A light blush creeps up his face and I know it before he says it "well I'm meeting up with Olivia at 10 for coffee"
"Aww Matt are you blushing?" I lean forward and pinch his cheek but he slaps my hand away, I start laughing and his blush deepens then something hits me "wait did you say 10" I look at my phone and its 9:45 "SHIT!!! I'm 45 minutes late for my lecture, fuck fuck fuck" I scramble to my feet "Bye Matt, I'll text you okay" I don't wait for his response before I run out of the cafe
