After buying some grilled fish and ten barbecue sticks, the two sat on the river bank and chatted.
"What made you join the army?"
Xia Yao was expecting some kind of reasons like 'great patriotism' or 'admiration for the soldiers with guns'.
However, to his surprise, Yuan Zong just simply answered, "Just wanted to make my family's life somewhat better."
Xia Yao didn't say anything as he downed two shots of beer.
"My father wasn't well educated, he didn't have money, got married when he was over 30. My mom's physical condition wasn't good, either. When she gave birth to my little sister, she was already over 40, not long after that she passed away. I joined the army right after high school, to be honest, just because I wanted to relieve the tension at home. And then in the army, I met some great team mates while training, which sparked off a special feeling for the troop.
Xia Yao asked, "You must miss those times, now that you have left."
Yuan Zong shrugged, "My dream has always been to own a private military school someday."
Xia Yao listened to him, quietly eating the barbecue stick. He had heard of Yuan Zong's amazing records while still in the force before. Had it not been for his early leave, he definitely would have been one of those to receive special training for the national team. Xia Yao sighed, properly because he suddenly felt sorry Yuan Zong.
Yuan Zong noticed the heavy expression, he grabbed a can of beer and nudged Xia Yao. "Enough about me, let's talk about you instead, I guess you were quite the fair-hared boy of the family huh?!''
"As if," Xia Yao immediately denied, "When my grandfather was still alive and my family hadn't move out. I have like...many grandmothers, which, you know, kinda normal in those days. We all live under one roof, and it wasn't anything like the dramatic fight they usually showed on TV series; we all got along pretty well. As a matter of fact, besides having a nanny, a chauffeur, my life and yours were pretty much the same.''
"I have never gone to a private school, grandpa always said that children being grounded in one place was not healthy. When I was in school, most of my friends didn't know my background, which I didn't intend to tell. Therefore, I was always on good terms with them. After getting into college, everyone then had all grown up, friends were fewer. You and I, we both suffer inevitable limits, for me, I couldn't easily befriend with just anyone."
Xia Yao talked continuously for a long while. He talked about his family, the tangled relationship and their troubles; talked about how he worked his ass off to achieve something and then just be depreciated...All those bottled up feelings then came flooding out with the help of alchohol.
After that, the two talked about their childhood toys. Xia Yao felt like he was on a different level. Ever since he could remember, he had played with limited car models, imported toys, even video games that hadn't been officially out in the market. Yuan Zong's toys, on the other hand, were much more mishmash-like, rolling iron bands, games of sticks, skating on wood, marbles...
The next topic was childhood food. From Dong Bei's specialities, iced pears, iced persimmon...to Dong Bei's fried cake with various fillings, beautiful golden deep fried pork chop, engaging slow-cooked pork belly with marinated cabbage. Just the idea of them were enough to make Xia Yao's mouth watered.
"I'll definitely find time to take you for a trip to my hometown. How does this sound, sitting on the bed, next to the fireplace, eating true Dong Bei's food?" Yuan Zong suggested. (Gonna happen soon babe ;], don't worry)
Xia Yao nodded with happiness. The hunger shown through his eyes prickled Yuan Zong's heart.
Time passed by in a flash, the sun had soon settled over the horizon, only then did Xia Yao realize it was already 5 pm. "You are kidding me! It's fivein the evening. Buck up, it's high time we went home, or else we wouldn't make it back before midnight."
Yuan Zong quietly took out hisjacket from the trunk and gave to Xia Yao then they began to drive home.

1. Shengshi will released soon (don't asked me when that "soon" will be come :v) .
2. Shengshi maybe have a fanmeeting.
3. Somebody asked her about Feng Ge and Junjun and her answer was Feng ge is really kind to Junjun. Liqiaodan said that Feng ge likes to eat 能量棒 err, it's a type of energy bar, and this energy bar has two flavours, one is delicious and the other one is not. So, when someone asks Feng ge for his 能量棒, he would give the one which is not tasty to them and the delicious one to Junjun...secretly >.<
4. Liqiaodan said sometimes Junjun personality is similar to Xia Yao's.
5. All of the actors in Shengshi is so tall.
6. Liqiaodan is at Beijing now .
7. Someone told her that Feng ge was in Beijing too, and she said maybe she would call Feng ge to have a meal and maybe ask him to have a live streaming with her.
8. There are many boys in Shengshi and she thought she would be cherished, however, reality proved her wrong.
9. Shengshi's theme song "Everything will say goodbye" is a pleasant song.
10. She said when Shengshi is shown/released she will tell us some interesting things when they were shooting.
11. She lost her phonewhch had so many pictures of the filming process, and she said she have a lot of Feng ge's ugly pictures, but now all is lost. :v
