Fallen Hard; Appledusk

My dear, what's your name?
Shh, don't be shy
We may be different
But that's alright

I know a little bit about this
Thing called love
Maybe we can make this work
In the name of love?

When I look in your eyes,
Grey skies become blue
And my dear,
I think I've fallen hard for you

Oh my dear,
What am I to I do?
I think
I've fallen hard for you

We are two different trees,
apple and maple
And our great forest does not
Allow us to share our seeds

But like an apple from its tree,
Falling from the leaves
Blowing in the breeze

I think I've fallen hard for you

-

What have you done?
You let our precious seeds
Wash away in the reeds!
Green grasses are now dead weeds

I'm breaking off our branches,
For you've cut them off the trunk
I do not want to do this
But our precious seeds have sunk

You're nothing but a stump now
And I have lost my leaves
But I've found a new dear
Who just might bear new seeds

I have fallen down before
And I hardly got back up
But this new dear
Just might be enough

-

My dear, I didn't want to fight
Why have you cut me down?
I think I've fallen hard for you

My dear, I think I've fallen through the ground

Ooh, a poem about a tree! This is my failing attempt to write catchy poetry. Even though it's more like a cheesy symbolic song than a poem. Uuuugh this is so bad. Sorreh

This might just be my favorite poem in the whole book.
