Broken Ice

Broken Ice

I didn't realize
That in your eyes,
I was bad.
But I was mad!

I didn't know that
To all of ThunderClan,
I should be a hero.
But I was zero.

I blamed you for my fall,
But I wasn't you at all.
I don't know why I couldn't see.
You tried to save me.

The broken ice beneath my paws
Is cold and makes me unsheathe my claws
I want to scream, I want to cry.
I didn't see you eye to eye.

The broken ice beneath my feet
Makes the slow drizzle start to feel like sleet,
And suddenly I am not so well,
I hope that you can tell.

Will you forgive me?
Will you believe me?
Will I ever believe in goodness once again?
Will I ever try to start from the end?

Now I realize
That in your eyes
I am a hero,
Not zero.

Now I know that
Despite ThunderClan,
I can turn inside out
And not turn you down.

It was the broken ice beneath my paws
That made me grit my teeth and unsheathe my claws,
Made me want to scream, to blame someone
For what no one has done.

It was the broken ice beneath my feet,
That made me want to cry, not to really see.
But if I'd tried back then, I could've started again.
Now I'm lying here at my end.

Will you forgive me?
Will you believe me?
It was the broken ice.
