Much to Lexas disappointment, her opponent had only a few shallow scratches and grazes on his body. On a positive note, he was in a worse state than Lexa and he no longer had the advantage of being on a horse.

The Azgeda warriors spear was turned ash eight feet long, the shaft smooth, thick, and heavy. The last two feet of that was steel: a slender leaf-shaped spearhead narrowing to a wicked spike. The edges looked sharp enough to cut through flesh with ease. Lexa wondered why he would use a spear in one on one combat. It was a strange choice. It would mean that is reach was larger than her own. He would be able to strike at her from a greater distance. A shift of sunlight blazed blindingly off polished gold and copper as he twirled the spear around his head. When he spun the shaft between the palms of his hands, they glistened black. Oil? Or poison? Lexa knew that she would find out sooner rather than later. The commander decided it would be in her best interest to stay in a defensive mind set. If the spear was in fact coated in poison, any blows landed early on the fight would set her at a great disadvantage.

There were fifty yards between them. The Azgeda warrior advanced quickly, but Lexa just held her ground. When the two warriors were ten yards apart, the man stopped and called out, "Have they told you who I am?"

"It hasn't come up." Lexa replied.

The Azgeda man slid sideways. "I am Elderon kom Azgeda." He said proudly, "Prince of Azgeda."

Lexa ignored him and turned to keep him in sight. Elderon spun his spear around his body at lightning speed as he moved closer to the Commander. Elderons's long spear jabbed towards her chest, but Lexa shoved it aside with her left sword, and bulled back at the prince, her great sword flashing. The prince spun away untouched. The spear darted forward. Lexa slashed at it, Elderon snapped it back, then thrust again. Metal screamed on metal as the spearhead slid off along Lexas sword. Elderon made a quick charge to hack at the Commanders head. Lexa avoided him easily. While he was off balance from his swing and miss, the commander landed a quick thrust on the Princes belly, to little effect because of his light armour.

The fight continued for a while longer with no one making any sufficient blows. Lexa was clearly the better warrior. That is probably why Nia got her son to put poison on his spear head. The commander could tell that Elderon was getting frustrated. This was his weakness and she was going to exploit it. Lexa kept on being completely defensive and blocking all his advances. After countless of his attacks were blocked he started to become more reckless and wild in hopes of landing a blow. This was her chance to land some strikes. The commander's swords lanced in above his spear. Like a serpent's tongue her swords flickered in and out, feinting low and landing high, jabbing at groin, stomach, eyes. The Prince made for a big target, at the least, compared to Lexa. The Commander could scarcely miss, though none of her blows were penetrating Elderons chest plate completely. The trikru warrior continued circling, jabbing, then darting back again, forcing the bigger man to turn and turn again.

Elderon pulled himself together, if he kept fighting like this, he was going to die and fail his nation. He swiftly spun out of the way of Lexas swing and darted his spear around slicing into the Commanders side.

Yes. That is poison. Lexa thought to herself. It wasn't a deep cut, but it didn't matter. His blade was coated in poison. She needed to end the fight quickly before the poison started acting on her. The commander sliced at Elderons thigh but he shoved it away with the head of his spear. She used her other sword to go for his chest. This time she got in between his plates of armour. The prince crumbled slightly in pain. It did not stop him for long though, he twirled around again, executing controlled blows at Lexa and advancing forward. The commander was put in a defensive manner again, only this time it was not by choice. She successfully blocked all his blows until he went for the back of her leg as she was turning to avoid an attack. Lexa dropped to her knee and he kicked her in the back with the sole of his boot causing her to lose her grip on her swords. The commander landed face first in the dirt.

Clarke couldn't just stand by and watch Lexa die. She loved her too much. She started taking steps forwards and but she was stopped by strong arms that wrapped around her torso.

"You cannot interfere." She heard Lincoln say.

"Get off me!" Clarke struggled to break free but he was too strong. She kicked and screamed but he wouldn't let go.

Lexa was becoming nauseous from the poison. She thought she could hear Clarke screaming but it could have just been her mind playing tricks on her. Lexas vision was impaired and her head was spinning. She could vaguely hear the Prince talking but it was muffled since she hit her head on the ground, or maybe it was the poison. Lexa focused on the muffled voice until it was finally audible, "-we are going to cut the heads off all of your warriors and your sky bitch just like we did to your beloved Costia," He mocked cockily. Elderon kicked Lexas side so she was now lying on her back. The head of his spear was pressed into her stomach so it only just pierced her skin, to hold her down and prevent her from moving.

"But now," he said cockily, "I'm going to kill yo- "

He was cut off by Lexa whacking the spear away from her, effectively snapping it in half. She flipped up onto her feet and grabbed the sword closest to her. She turned to Elderon who was now defenseless. Lexa drove her sword in between his ribs until the tip passed through him and came out the other side. The commander watched the life fade from his eyes as she hissed in his face, "Jus drein jus daun."

Lexa pulled her sword out of him and his lifeless body dropped to the cold, hard ground. By this point Lexa could barely stand. Her head was aching and spinning from the poison and the fall. But she had to address her people, "Azgeda warriors, bow before me and you will be saf- "

She saw Clarke running towards her and Lexas crumbled to the ground just as darkness took over.
