"Cade wake up its time for school" my mother screamed at the top of her lungs waking me up. I roll out of bed with a groan. I know you're thinking why does she scream at me to wake up? Well I have a hard time waking up so she goes to the extreme with how to get me up. One time she even threw freezing cold water on me. Needless to say I make sure to get up when she screams.
I make my way to the bathroom taking a cool/warm shower to get all of the sleepiness out of my body. Once I'm done I get dressed noticing I have 15 minutes to get to school before I'm late again. Rushing down the stairs I see my mom in the kitchen kiss her cheek and grab a poptart. Shaking her head she says "You better hurry up, remember what your father said next time you're late for school". I shudder thinking about losing Veronica.
Running out of the house I jump into my car starting her up and taking out towards school. "Don't worry Veronica baby I won't let him take you away from me" I mutter while rubbing the steering wheel. I make it to school with three minutes to spare hoping I find a parking spot. I spot one and hurry up and park. Glancing at my phone I see I've got about two minutes give or take before the bell rings. Luckily my first period class is close to the front entrance so I don't have to go very far. Running full speed I make it into my seat right as the bell rings.
"Good job Cade, you almost made me lose $20 bucks" Gage says while grabbing money from Nick. I shake my head Turing back around in my seat. Gage is the Alpha's son while Nick is the third in command's son. Even though I am an Omega Gage and Nick have always treated me and other lower ranked wolves with respect. Their thoughts are everyone in a pack plays a special part, so they should be respected. Which I am happy to say I agree with. "Next time Cade come in just one minute late it'll be alright, I promise" Nick tells me while I guess using puppy dog eyes but it makes him look like he's constipated. "Enough talking let's get started class" the teacher says ending all conversation.My morning is pretty much the same classes, teachers talking, students semi paying attention.
At lunch I find my best friend David and our other friends at our regular table. We all play around talking trash and eating. "So Cade your 17th birthday is in a few days, how are we celebrating?" Samantha asks while sipping on a Coke. I roll my eyes because I know all she really wants is an excuse to get wasted. "I haven't planned or thought of anything to be honest" I reply getting everyone's attention at our table by my reponse. "I got it how about we throw you a party at the lake"? Jim adds in. As I look at all of there excited faces I agree knowing they won't let me say no. Now they start breaking off into side conversations about what to bring and wear.
"Cade's birthday party at the lake this Saturday at 7pm" Samantha yells out to the entire cafeteria. The noise level raises up another notch as everyone gets excited. Not about my birthday although I know a few a genuinely happy about that. Like I said it just another reason to get drunk and act crazy without the parents around. "Hey Cade" Gage yells out across the room, "looking forward to finding out who your mate will be"? I shake my head giving him the finger as he laughs loudly. We all have the possibility of finding our mate when we turn 17. I do my best to look around the room wondering if anyone in here could be the one I'm destined to be with for the rest of my life. I notice some girls smiling at me while others have a horrified look on their face. I'm OK with being an omega but there are people who think my wolf is pretty worthless. I pay them no mind because you can't please everyone.
The end of the day has me going home to finish the mountain of homework I have to do. I get my my house grabbing a drink and going to my room. I'm so focused on doing my homework I don't hear when my mom and dad come home or being called for dinner.
"Hey buddy, looks like you have a lot more work to do" my dad says startling me. I turn around from my desk and smile. "Yeah we keep getting more and more homework I'll be done in about 30 minutes" I tell him. "Well come on and take a break and have dinner you can finish when you're done eating".
We go downstairs and see my mom with a smirk on her face. "So was he asleep or doing homework"? She ask my dad. He grumbles taking a $20 dollar bill out of his wallet and handing it to her. This is the second time today people have placed bets on me. I don't know if I should be offended or not so I let it go. My mom is one of the best cooks I know which is why she's one of the head cooks at the pack house. My dad works at one of the wearhouses owned by the pack as a manager. We eat and I eat and eat until I'm stuffed. I make sure I go and finish my homework before I pass out on my bed.
