Chapter 42: Silver Linings

Before I knew it, the "season of love" had fallen upon GATE. I never really cared much for the holiday, but after meeting Faith, I had some seconds thoughts about it. I had told myself that after literally going through Hell with her, she was the one I knew that would complete me. Today being the first day of February and the pink everywhere didn't exactly help me come to terms that that reality might not be after all. I found myself constantly asking Yuki about how Faith was doing with Pantera, and much to her discomfort, she would tell me a few things. From what it sounded like, they were ok. Pantera had the balls to ask her out officially, but to my surprise, she said she needed time to think about it. When Yuki told me that, my heart couldn't help but skip a beat. Maybe she still had some feeling for me after all!

Ugh, sometimes I wished that I didn't have to deal with this giddy stuff, like Keita. I wondered what he would do in this situation...

I shook away a funny picture in my head of Keita beating down Pantera and returned to watching the show on my aPad. It happened to be at a romantic scene, which had to be a cruel joke because it was an action show and this stuff hardly came up. I paused the show, set it away, and laid down on the spare bed in my room. I laughed at the memory of Faith falling asleep here that one time, but that warm feeling was soon replaced with a much more empty one.

I looked over at my own bed. I wondered what it would be like to have a roommate... Keita and Riku were just next door, but one was too serious for and the other not serious enough to have a talk about Faith and me.

(Ginzu) Ok, I'm only going to do this once. It's after school on a Monday, I'm pretty sure he's out with Keita and Riku. If I do this this one time, I can't say I never tried.

There was a knock on my door and I got up immediately to answer it. Much to my surprise, it was Ginzu.

Ginzu and I had our homeroom class last year together. We were chill, but it wasn't really until this year that we started to hang out together, though, it was more in a group setting. Come to think of it, he used to hang out with Pantera and his group of friends last year. A strange thought about him helping me out with Faith came and went through my mind.

Ginzu had long, jet-black, mane-like hair that often fell into his face, sometimes covering up his metallic, gray eyes. He was pale-skinned, but fairly muscular, of a toned, lithe build. He was barely shorter than me, from what I could tell, so probably 6'0." He usually wore darker clothes, today consisting of a thin black sweater, black jeans, and black high tops. One thing that I've noticed about him is that he always wears and obsidian necklace around his neck.

"Oh, Ginzu," I said, slightly confused at his appearance. I could tell that he looked uncomfortable coming to me for some reason, so I tried to ease him with a smile.

"What brings you to my room?" I asked politely.

(Ginzu) Whew, it's not as bad as I thought it'd be...

Ginzu cracked a smile, seeming to be eased, "I was just coming back to the dorms after class and thought I'd stop by. We don't do much together."

I looked back in the room, seeming to have missed the point. Like I said earlier, we only hung out in group settings and it was a bit odd for him to ask me to do something together. But then again, I did like him as a guy. He was pretty cool, definitely not on any extreme side like Keita and Riku.

"Yeah, you're totally right man. Did you have something in mind? Maybe something from the cafe?" I asked back.

Ginzu shrugged once, "Sure, whatever's cool with you man."
