"Are you sure you want to wear that?"

Tessa turned around to face Clary, who was frowning a bit. Tessa looked down. She was wearing a flowing black dress, that came just above her knees. She was wearing minimal makeup and was wearing very short black heels. Clary was in a short tight white dress, and was wearing quite a bit of makeup, but she didn't look trashy. The white of the dress made her fiery hair even brighter, and Tessa was momentarily jealous of beautiful it looked.

"Yeah, why?" Tessa replied.

"I don't know, maybe you want to wear something a bit more party-ish? You can borrow one of my dresses if you want." She suggested.

"I'll be okay in this, but thanks." Tessa said.

Tessa knew that this wasn't really party attire but this was what she knew she'd feel the most comfortable in. At 8:30pm her and Clary walked out of their dorm building, and stood outside. They were going to walk to the frat house, since it was only about a block away, with all of Clary's friends. Tessa felt a bit nervous to meet them. What if they hated her or though she was weird? Tessa never really had trouble making friends in the past but she couldn't help but worry.

Soon, a handful of people walked up to them. First, there were two girls with long black hair. One was dressed in a short blue dress, and she had clear blue eyes. The other was dressed in a bright red dress that was very short and tight. Next, was a tall boy with brown hair and green eyes, and he was quite attractive. The last boy was gorgeous - with golden hair and golden-brown eyes. Clary walked over to him, and he pecked her lips. Tessa realized that this was her boyfriend.

"Guys, this is Tessa Gray." Clary introduced.

"I'm Isabelle Lightwood." The girl in the red dress said.

"I'm Cecily Herondale." The girl in blue dress followed.

"Gabriel Lightwood. I'm Isabelle's cousin." The green eyed boy said.

"And I'm Jace Herondale. Cecily's cousin." Clary's boyfriend said.

Tessa only smiled, and was about to say something, when another boy walked up to them, looking annoyed.

"Thanks for waiting for me." He huffed.

Tessa's eyes widened as she looked at the boy, and she felt her heart stop. If she thought Jace was gorgeous, than this boy was breathtaking. He had jet black hair, and the brightest blue eyes she had ever seen. He was dressed in all black which made his skin look very pale. His features were all sharp and very defined - almost as if they had been carved by an actual person.

He looked over at her, blue eyes taking her in. He let in no sign of what he was thinking or feeling, and he only continued to stare at her.

"Clary." The boy said, eyeing Tessa up and down rudely. "You never said your roommate was training to become a nun."

Tessa was taken aback, and she blushed.

"Shut up, Will." Clary glared at him, and then looked at Tessa. "Tessa, this is Will Herondale, Cecily's twin brother. Will, this is Tessa Gray."

Will only looked at her for a few more seconds, rolled his eyes, and then looked away. They all began walking, and Tessa sidled up to Clary and the other girls.

"Is he always like that?" Tessa asked.

Cecily sighed. "Yes. I'm really sorry, Tessa."

"You'll get used to his rudeness." Isabelle rolled her eyes in Will's direction.

Tess peered behind her, over her shoulder, to look at Will. He was walking alongside Jace, looking at the ground. She felt annoyance run through her, why was he so rude? It wasn't like she had done anything to him. As they walked, Cecily and Isabelle asked Tessa questions about herself. By the time they reached the frat house, Tessa decided that she really liked the two girls. They were very friendly.

Tessa gingerly followed Clary into the frat house, where music was blasting from speakers. There were people dancing everywhere, and red cups were littered all over the place. She looked behind her to see that Will had already disappeared into the crowd of people. Wait, why was she even looking at him in the first place? Turning back around, she followed the three other girls farther into the house. They immediately got drinks, and then offered Tessa one, to which she declined.

"Oh come on, Tessa, just one." Isabelle said.

She shook her head. "No, I don't really drink. Thanks, though."

"Suit yourself." Isabelle said, and then took a large sip from her cup.

They then dragged Tessa out onto the dance floor, where she danced awkwardly. She wasn't big on dancing either, and envied how the other girls could dance so naturally. Tessa had never been quite good at social gatherings, and never had many friends because of this. It had never bothered her until now, seeing everyone so happy and free. She and her best friend Sophie never went to parties during high school - never feeling the urge to. Sophie was just like her, and Tessa had loved that. She felt rush of sadness well through at the thought of Sophie, since she was back in New York. Maybe, I shouldn't have come to school here, Tessa thought to herself.

After about half an hour, Tessa told the girls she needed to use the washroom. She fought her way up the stairs, through the crowds of people. God, she thought, was it really necessary to make the staircase your hangout spot? She received a few dirty looks from people, but she only kept walking. Soon, she reached the top of the stairs, and then realized she had no idea where the bathroom was. She gingerly opened doors to see that they were only empty bedrooms. Tessa opened another one, and then wished she hadn't.

Will was there, laying on top of some girl with brown hair, making out with her. Hearing the door open, Will pulled away from the girl and turned around to look at Tessa. She only stood there, frozen in embarrassment, as Will's blue eyes stared at her, showing no emotion.

"Um, sorry." Tessa squeaked.

She then quickly walked away, almost running downstairs, her need to use the washroom completely forgotten.
