"...hope it doesn't get worse." He was saying as I took my seat.

"So much for a calm weekend." Xena sighed, sitting at the chair in front of the window.

"Don't be like that. The storm will pass by the morning." I added into the conversation.

"I hope so. It would suck for this weekend to be ruined." Xena lamented.

"Kind of like that surprise?" William teased, and she gave him a glare.

"I'm never living that down, huh?" She questioned.

"Oh, hell no." I promised, grinning at her.

She groaned and put her head in her hands while William and I laughed. I grabbed the food and began to fill my plate, which caused the other two to follow suit. We settled into small talk, mostly about school and old inside jokes. At one point a loud crack of thunder sounded which made us jump, then followed by lightening. Just as the flash lit up the forest, I could almost swear I saw someone standing off in the trees behind Xena.

I guess I must've had a weird look on my face because William gave me a worried look.

"Sis, you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost or something?" There was worry in his tone and on his face.

I shook myself out of it and looked away from the window. I cracked a smile, before laughing at myself slightly.

"Yeah, yeah. I think being this far out into the words and dad bringing up those legends has been messing with my head all day." I explained, still laughing.

"Oh, don't worry." Xena said, laughing with me. "There's nothing out here but us and some animals."

"Yeah I know. I guess it's just the different area." I defended, before taking a bite out of the salmon.

"After you sleep, it'll probably get better. It was an exhausting hike anyway." William said with his mouth full of food.

I just nodded and focused on my food, though my eyes always seemed to glance to the window. I almost expected to see something very time there was a flash of lightening, but there never was.

"What do you mean you're not going to prom?" William asked me, eyes wide, after Xena told him.

"I mean I'm not going to prom unless I find myself a date." I explained, exasperatedly.

"You have to go to prom." William said, almost determined.

"How about no?" I countered, taking another bite of salmon.

"But why not?" Xena pleaded almost for an answer.

"I hate dances, I'm too short for any of the dresses I like, it's three hours of dry fucking on a dance floor and my makeup melting off my face." I replied.

"But still. It's your last dance." William stated like I hadn't realized.

"And I'll spend it home with Chinese takeout and a horror movie." I droned before changing the subject to something else.

After we ate I helped clean up the kitchen with the other two. Xena did the dishes, I dried them and William put them away. We almost decided on me putting them away before remember I'm short as hell.
