Her words haunted him as he looked at the dark ceiling: "I am broken."
Such a simple sentence yet it had such a dark meaning to it.
How could the girl he knew for the past year, who was always smiling, laughing, cracking jokes, supporting others with her wit, making sure everyone was content, the light, be broken? How cunning she was. She made everyone so happy that she never once showed how helplessly broken she was.
He thought about this continuously throughout the night as sleep slowly crept over him. I will help her; I can't let her carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. I need to help her.
