It Doesn't Work That Way Chapter 2

"Rose." My friend Amy said as I sat down in my assigned seat right next to her in the back of the room.

"Amy." I said back. putting my pack under the desk.

"So I have news."

"What news?"

"Michael Green and I are dating."

"No way I thought you told him no."

"I did, but he's very persistent. He showed up at my house and asked my parents if he could take me out and it just kinda went from there."

"Aww!! I can't believe you didn't text me!"

"I'm sorry! I was just so happy and we've been going out like almost everyday for the past month."

"That's so cute!"

"Alright class settle down. Since it's the first day of your senior year and I don't feel like teaching you anything today we're going to watch a movie." The teacher Mr. Mason said turning on the projector and pushing play. He put his feet up as the movie began. "Tom turn the lights off please." He said to Tom who was sat nearest the light switch.

As soon as the light was out people started to shift around and switch seats with others to sit near their friends. Since I didn't really talk to anyone in here besides Amy I didn't join in moving around the room.

"Psst." someone whispered behind me. "Psst." this one was joined by a poke to my left shoulder. "Rose." I turned around and came face to face with Sean. "Hey sweets looks like we're in the same class." He says smirking.

"Yippee." I said sarcastically.

"I think I'm gonna enjoy this."

"I'm sure you will." I had a feeling this class was going to be hell.

My next class was guitar and absolutely nothing happened. I could already tell I was going to like that class. Third period rolled around it was Chemistry. I walked into class and the first face my eyes landed on...Sean Matthews.

"You've gotta be kidding me."

"Hello darlin' funny how we have this class together too." He said smiling at me. I sat as far away from him as possible.

"Alright students. We are going to start off the year with a lab." Mr Kent said. He went on to explain what we were to do and how to do it and what should happen if it was done right.. "Alright grab a partner and do the lab." I quickly scanned the room trying to find someone I could work with, but there was no one.

"Hey Rose. Want to be partners?" Sean asked me smirking because he knew I couldn't say no we were the last two people. I sighed and nodded getting up to get the stuff we needed.

Once we got to our table Sean started to set up the equipment. As I sat there I couldn't help myself from glancing at his hands remembering what they could do, what they did do. He caught me staring at his hands and smirked but said nothing.

"So what's up with you and Nielson? Are you two an item now?"

"What?"

"Nielson? I heard you were coming to my party with him."

"Oh yeah I am."

"Why?" He asked. I was taken aback I didn't think he would be that blunt about it. But it was Sean so I should have expected it. "Because if you're trying to make me jealous it's working." What? Jealous? That was not my intention. At all. "Rose?"
