As I ran through her calculus problems, she babbled off about this weekend and senior prom.

"So, who do you think you're gonna take?" She asked me, leaning on her hand.

"I'm not going."

"Okay, see, you are going. You didn't go to our junior prom and you didn't go to any of our homecomings. You're going to senior prom."

"No, I'm not. There's no one who will agree to go with me." I retorted, knowing that was true.

"What about Derek?"

"Derek is on the basketball team and is six foot five. How about no?"

"Jose?"

"He's my brothers best friend, still a no."

"I know Mathias has been giving you the eye lately."

"Ew no, he dated Courtney and fucked Kelly behind her back."

"Isn't Kelly her sister?"

"Duh!"

"Oh ew, stay away from him." She faked gagged before giving me the puppy dog eyes. "Please come?"

I sighed deeply, and handed her the math sheet and pencil just as the end of lunch began. I stood up at the same time as her, still giving me expecting eyes.

"Okay, if I can find a date I'll go. And I mean if I find my own date. So, don't try to set me up with anyone." I caved.

"Yes!" She exclaimed, pumping her fist in the air in victory.

I just sighed and shook my head at my friend as we made it out of the cafeteria, splitting up once again.

My last classes went by slowly, the clock seemingly counting in hours instead of minutes like it should. Finally, the final bell rang and I bolted to my locker to grab my stuff. I knew I'd be walking alone today since William was going to hang out with his teammates and Xena had yearbook. I shouldered my book bag and began the trek home.

The house was dark and empty, just like we left it this morning, so dad wasn't home yet. Probably wouldn't be til almost time for us to go to sleep. Working two jobs didn't give you a lot of family time.

I sat my book bag down and grabbed my smaller bag I carried around town. I shoved my phone, my math and history book, and my wallet into it and headed back out. I went to my favorite coffee shop and sat down in the back table where I always did, every Wednesday. The barista nodded to me, we had a silent agreement about me hanging out here without buying anything, and I went to work instantly.

I stayed there for two hours, at least, before packing up and heading home. Xena had texting me pictures of her future prom dress, while William sent me a picture of the Mexican takeout he got for us. When I made it home, I was surprised to see dad sitting at the table with my brother.

"Hey, there's my little fairy." He greeted me.

Our dad was a tall man, much like my brother except a few inches taller. His black hair and slight beard had grey specks in it from his age and the stress he goes through, but his blue eyes were surrounded by smile lines and always hid a smile. A lot of women his age called him handsome, but to me it was just dad. Dad who gave me an annoying pet name.

"It's Pixie dad." I reminded him.

"Technically it's Marcy, but Xena changed that." He retorted, before biting into a taco.

I rolled my eyes but grinned at him a bit.

"Don't roll your eyes at me, young lady." He joked with a scowl on his face, but I could tell he was trying not to laugh.

"Hey, I'm eighteen. Can do what I want now." I replied, taking a seat between then and grabbing some food.

"Don't remind me that my baby girl is eighteen now." He sighed, before shaking his head. "Speaking of nothing pertaining to this conversation; where are you guys going this weekend again?"

"Xena's parents let us stay in that old cabin they got out in the woods for the weekend." William answered since I had food in my mouth.

I just nodded to confirm his sentence.

"How far out is that cabin?" Dad asked.

"What did Xena say, sis? Twenty miles or so from civilization?"

I nodded again, swallowing though.

"Yeah, we wanted to be isolated to just hang." I explained.

"I want you two to be careful, I've heard things about those woods." He reminded us.

"Yeah dad, old urban legends that don't mean anything." I replied, taking another bite of my food.

"I'm serious, Marcy."

Him using my real name made me look at him, before nodding and swallowing.

"Okay, okay. I'll keep an eye on William."

He nodded, obviously pleased with this answer, and we went back to dinner. Dad asked us about school, we asked him about work. I did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen while William did his homework and dad cleaned up the rest of what needed to be. William and I shared the bathroom while brushing our teeth and I cleaned my face. He took a shower first though, since I got it first last night.

Once I got out of the shower, and got my hair to just being damp, I grabbed my basketball shorts and tank top, changing into them before heading to my bedroom and laying down. I looked up to see the night sky and made sure the window was locked before grabbing my navy duvet and curling up with it. I'll ask dad about the computer tomorrow, I decided, as sleep began to overtake me.
