Something new?

Once again I reset. Once again I'll purge this world. But why am I even doing all of this? And why haven't I ever thought about it before..

It all got mechanical. I turned them all to dust so many times that my body reacts on its own. Froggit, Whimsum... Papyrus. I've killed them all dozens of times. Not once have I thought why?

There goes Papyrus. I step over the pile of dust and open the door.
But something seems off..
Chara's nowhere to be found. Normally she'd follow me for a while then try to prank me before Asriel'd come.
But this time nothing like that happened. A branch didn't break, I felt no presence behind me, no one stopped me before the gate.
Instead I found her at her station, sleeping. Or at least pretending to be asleep. She woke up once I got to the other side of the bridge.

-You know how it goes.

I know. Here comes Asriel, Chara says some puns and the kid goes the same way he got here. She knows that today her little brother's going to die. At my hands.
But why.. why am I doing all of it? Why can't it all be different?
It can be. It can be if I try.

-What are you still doing here? Planning to kill me early? Refreshing.

I drop my weapon. I've made my mind.
I am going to be different. But it'll take a clean world

-Kill me.
-..come again?
- I said, kill me.
-..with pleasure.

I saw a knife flying at me. The knife that'll let me change everything.
