flying from in between
his lips.

his eyes teared up, but he didn't know why.
was it because she thought he lied
to her or because she sounded
so sad and broken?

"why are you smoking then?"

"why are you here?"

they both asked at the same time.

"because i missed you," she stared at her feet,
waiting for him to say something, anything,
"answer my question."
