"Ellie? Baby?" He fell to the floor with Ellie cradled in his arms. "No..." He sobbed. He was hugging her body the exact way he had Sarah's, and now he felt guilty. It was going to be his fault another one of his loved ones died.
"We didn't know what to do. So, she says, 'Let's just wait it out. Y'know we can be all poetic and lose our minds together.' I'm still waiting for my turn."
Those words rang in his ears. Was this really it? Was Ellie gone for good? Joel became frustrated, and screamed. He screamed so loud, he didn't care who would hear him. In fact, he wanted someone to hear him. That way he could get comforted, and won't have to witness what was going on. He wanted someone to save him from his hell.
"Don't do this to me, baby girl, not again. C'mon." His tears ran faster, and the blood kept rushing. He placed his shaking hand over it, and squeezed it lightly.
Time.
That was going to kill both him and her.
Time.
Ellie took a deep breath, and Joel gasped. She screamed his name, and Joel said, "Hey, it's okay. I'm here, baby girl, I gotcha." The grip she had on his shirt was unbelievable. She was going to rip the shirt, if she tugged hard enough. Joel stood on both feet, still caring the wounded "baby" in his arms. "Listen to me, we are going to go to Tommy's, and we are going to patch you up, okay?"
Ellie nodded her head, and stopped crying. "Joel..."
"Shuush, don't say anything. I gotcha."
Ellie's eyes were bloodshot, she was shaking and cold. Man, that grip could pierce the skin. His grip though, oh his grip, was ever so tighter. He was NOT going to lose Ellie, he swore to himself and Sarah. He couldn't save Sarah, but he knew if she was still here, she would want Joel to save Ellie at all costs. These thoughts kept him running, and eventually he made it to Tommy's. Joel pounded on the door, and Tommy walked out.
"Joel! I'm surprised to see you he- Oh, dear God." He stared at Tommy, and Tommy spoke into his radio, "I need the doctors down here now. Bring Maria." Maria and the doctors ran out to see the commotion. The doctors were equipped with everything they needed for an emergency. That's when Joel focused on Maria. She was pregnant. Tommy was going to be a father. Tommy tried to grab Ellie from Joel's arms, but his father side, the dominant one right now, wouldn't let go. Joel placed her on the floor, and the doctors quickly injected her with sleep-inducing medicine. "Where'd you get that?" Joel questioned. His voice was hoarse, and he was weak. His eyes were puffy, and his face was red. Tommy hugged Joel, and he couldn't take it any longer. All his emotions poured out of him like a river, and he swore he would never let go of Tommy.
The doctors were in shock, and one of them gasped. "She's supposed to be dead. No one should survive an attack like this."
