Daniel
"Save the future, avoid Liu Kang!"
"Why? He's just- this friend."
"You totally slept with him didn't ya?"
"Shut up Fraser! What is up with you and your crush on Kitana? Isn't my sister enough for you?" I scolded Fraser while my boyfriend Nick besides me just chuckled lightly into my shoulder.
So what happened is that I have graduated high school and I will be moving to New York to do my psychology degree and become a councillor for young teens who have been facing dilemmas throughout the years. My sister and her boyfriend, Fraser, are coming along as well because both of them wanted to do the drama school there. And honestly I am proud they are doing what they love. Nick however is staying with his dad and help with his family business.
And right now, Fraser is impersonating Kitana from Mortal Kombat X.
"Yes she is. She is perfect for me now be quiet and learn to guard your tongue." He retorted as I just roll my eyes at him. He just said another quote Kitana said but she says that to someone else instead. I let Fraser continue to get slaughtered by a CPU Kitana and get off the couch to where mom was with Dahlia and Anna who were still planning Nick and I's wedding. We both agreed that we were going to get married before I take off to NYU. But I still think that is too early. Couldn't we wait until I finish my degree first?
"I still think that violets would work. It brings contrast to the venue." Mom says while the girls look at her with pure fear. I understand why though, Dahlia was allergic to violets and it brought Anna painful memories of Canada.
"I still think Daffodils are a better idea. I brings light to the place." Dahlia suggested.
"Or maybe Frangipanis. It would make the place look vibrant." Anna argued against mom and Dahlia's ideas. Maybe it was a bad idea of mom letting the girls help with the wedding because if anything, it would look like we had a paint ball fight at the wedding instead of a formal one. Maybe if I can sneak out of here without mom or the girls seeing me then-
"Oh Danny!" Mom says to me motherly. I turn to face away from them and sigh in defeat.
Not fast enough.
"Yeah mom?"
"Which type of flowers do you think would be better for you and Nick's wedding? I think violets would be a good idea-" Anna cut mom off and faced me while holding a frangipani.
"But frangipanis make the venue look vibrant and actual colour into the place-" Dahlia cut my sister off, holding a daffodil in her hand.
"Daffodils make the place look bright." Dahlia argued as well.
"Yeah, if you're Belle from Beauty and the Beast." Anna argued with the blond girl. Dahlia stood here, giving Anna the look that always lead up to a lecture from her. This is why I don't like arguing with her.
"You do know that in the end of Beauty and the Beast, the beast actually had beauty. But the true meaning of Beauty and the Beast was that you always go with what your heart is content with, not your eyes and beliefs and also that Opposites do attract. Maybe you need to study a bit more in your English class Anna. No wonder you have been flunking." I stare at my sister in horror and my mom gave Anna a glare that makes you wish that you never confessed anything in front of her ever again.
Dahlia looked towards me with that fearful look as well. That's when we both knew this wasn't going to end well at all.
"ANNABEL MICHAELS! YOU BETTER HAVE A FUCKI-" Dahlia and I made a run for it and left the dining room to where both Nick and Fraser were still in their same positions as when I left them so I could go and see what mom and the girls were doing. Fraser looked up to where both Dahlia and I still had that look of terror.
"Dahlia? Danny? What's wrong?" He asked. As if on cue, Anna walked out with anger evident in her eyes and glared hatefully at Dahlia.
"Thanks a lot you blond brat! I'm grounded thanks to your Atlantic Ocean of a mouth!" Anger seethed throughout my sister. It was pretty obvious since her insults were very trashy when she's angry. The angrier she gets, the worse her insults become. Something I learnt for years. Dahlia just rolled her eyes towards my sister and just stood there. I taught Dahlia that trick because that is when Anna knows that if she took a step too far, she would be in bigger trouble with mom than she is already.
"Why did you not tell your mom?"
"Because I knew that she would react the way that she is right now!"
"You be careful with what you say to your own mother Annabel. I can take away everything that you love right now. One more word from you or else you will regret it." Mom said cutting her off.
"But mom-"
"That's it! You are no longer Nick and Danny's bridesmaid. Only Dahlia and Ebonie will be the bridesmaid now. Keep speaking blondie or you will lose the privilege of helping out with the wedding and attending the wedding in general." I look towards Anna who's eyes glistened from anger to hurt. I didn't blame her though. Mom had no right to ban her from helping out with the wedding, or attending the wedding in general. Also, Nick and I suggested that she would be the bridesmaid with Dahlia.
Anna began to cry and run all the way upstairs to her bedroom where she would probably remain for the rest of the day while mom walked back into the dining room agreeing to herself that there will be violets at the wedding.
"Dahlia, Fraser, go upstairs and look after Anna for a bit. Nick, stay with me and help me talk to mom." I strategize to the three standing in front of me as both Dahlia and Fraser agreed with me before taking off upstairs to where Anna's bedroom is. Nick and I walk into the dining room to where mom continued to sort out wedding plans.
"What was that about out there mom?" I asked mom, going straight to the point. Mom looks at me with an empty expression.
"I told your sister that she needed to pass English or else she will never as clever as you." Both Nick and I stare at my mother with disgust. Why would she say that about her own daughter for? That would be something that no sibling would want to hear from their own parents.
I was worried about how dad would react to me being gay. And mom as well. But dad was more accepting than mom was since dad knew that I would never change as his son. I was still that Canadian boy of his and I'm happy that dad still loves me equally.
Speaking of dad, he had some issues in terms of cancer last year. It was a very depressing moment at the time for me since dad was like the rock in our family.
Six months ago, he died in the hospital bed in front of me.
"How dare you say that about Anna mother." I spat saying the word 'mother' with as much venom as I could pronounce. I glare at the lady in front of me while Nick continued on for me.
"Anna might have been doing bad in English, she has been passing her other classes. She is a very clever girl but you just focus on her English grades and just by those grades you down grade her. Maybe it should be you that shouldn't be allowed at the wedding. If you keep down grading your daughter, don't bother helping with the wedding. I can get my mother to help." Nick finished his rant and I couldn't stop smiling at my fiance. Just love how he defends for his friends because it proves that he has a heart.
"Well after you get married I will be your mother in law-"
"Yeah! You'll be the 'wicked mother in law that I don't like and she doesn't like me' cliche. Your move." Nick says smartly and I attempted to hide my giggle into his shoulder.
"Yeah well-"
"Why do you need a well? Unless you want me to say 'oh well' then you're wasting your breath lady. So we will let you be. Come on Danny, let's go see if Anna's alright." Nick sassed my mother before he grabbed my hand and led me towards the staircase. He pushed me into the wall when he placed his lips onto my own. I immediately kissed back and found myself moaning when we hear a knock coming from our front door. Nick breaks the groaning in annoyance at the bad timing.
"And I was enjoying that kiss too." Nick pouted as I roll my eyes as I walked towards the front door. As I open the door, there was a guy with beach blond hair, blue eyes and a lean frame. I feel myself freeze at the boy standing in front of me. What was he doing here? And how did he know I lived here?
"Hello Daniel."
"D-Dominic."
