I pulled into my parking spot at exactly 7:33 am like every other morning. I turn my music down. First I wouldn't want anyone to hear my mix of throwback pop songs and country. And second, i don't want anyone to notice me at all.

I wait until the coast is clear before I get out of my inconspicuous vehicle parked as far away from everyone as I could get. Which isn't that far, because on the first day, the parking lot is always packed. I keep telling myself, "Addie you can do this. Its only one more year!" As I grab my book bag and keys, I take a deep breath. Senior year is supposed to be the best year of my life. Maybe this year will be great.

Or maybe not.

I'm wearing dark wash skinny jeans that kind of accentuate what little bit of curves I do have, and this cute yellow top with lace sleeves that compliments my dull brown hair. Today I decided to switch it up from the usual sweat pants and tee-shirts cause you only have one last first day right.

I get out of my car and apparently my new clothes draw some attention. I catch Emily from the soccer team look at me and Adam from the football team. I swear he actually checked me out! All of a sudden I'm feeling really self-conscious. Why did I think this looked good! I'm not the kind of girl to wear bright colors! Im supposed to blend in and not get any attention.

I have two choices. Get in my car, drive home, and change. Or embrace a new year and a new me?? Ugh if I wasn't going to be late on the first of school I definitely would've changed.

My name is Addison. Addison Gardner. I go to a small public school in my little middle-of-nowhere town where the most exciting thing to happen in the last ten years is the construction of our very own Dollar General. I was actually very excited that I could go buy overly priced snacks at a supposedly discount store.

I walked into the building that was bustling with new freshmen running around like chickens with their head cut off. My locker was on the other end of the school where all the other seniors were. I was trying to hurry to my locker before he got there. I know that if I get there fast enough there won't be that many people surrounding our lockers.

Yet.

Of course when I get to the senior hallway I can already see him. Not only him but basically the entire football team and cheerleading squad.

Oliver Grahm just had to be the most popular person to ever walk to halls of Valley Brooke High. He had to be the star of every sport, have the most popular girlfriend, and be the most gorgeous boy I've ever laid my eyes on. He was over six feet tall with this wavy brown-blond hair. He has green eyes that are actually green not hazel-green or blue-green but green-green. I've lived down the road from Oliver all my life. We even used to be friends believe it or not. Back in first grade, back before anyone was cooler than anyone else and we all just played tag at recess and shared our snacks at lunch.

I have two choices. I could turn around and just go to homeroom. I could struggle with my books and wear my jacket until I could find a time when my locker wasn't surrounded with people who don't even know I exist. Or option two. I could grow a pair. I could just walk over to him, say hi, and maybe squeeze into my locker right beside his. New year, new me...right?

Well before I could run away like the chicken I was, Oliver looks over the crowd of his faithful worshippers and locks eyes with me. I can't seem to look away. He smiles like he knows that he has this effect on everyone. I almost laugh at myself for acting like such a dork but then he tells all of his "friends" he has to get to homeroom. They all give him bro hugs like they won't see him for days when in reality they probably will have every class together. One girl sticks around. Of course, I should've known he just wanted some alone time with his girlfriend. Darien Wheeler is the captain of the cheerleading team, most popular girl in school, and was definitely the most sought after girl in our grade. My school is basically a huge cliché.
