Matt’s POV
“Son of a bitch” I yelled, slamming my fists into the wall behind my desk, the drywall gave way slightly under the blow, leaving dents.
How could this happen again? How could everything have been so perfect this morning and then gone straight to hell literally in a matter of minutes?
The door to my office opened and closed behind me. I whipped around, hoping that it was Anna. Instead it was my brother, holding a frozen bag of peas.
“Figured your face was hurting” He said, tossing me the bag. He put his hands in his pockets and surveyed the damage I had just done to my wall.
“Nice job” He said “I’m sure Mom is just going to love that when she sees it”
I slumped into my chair, placing the bag of peas to my black eye.
“I lost her again Dev” I moaned “I fought for her, I got her, now I lost her”
“Oh you didn’t lose her you idiot” Devin said, sitting in the chair across from me “She had a temporary mental break down from all the stress you put her through”
“Yeah me” I exclaimed “me! I did this”
“Of course you did this you moron” Devin sneered “You’re the retard that got her in this mess that day with the paparazzi, so yeah it’s your fault”
I pressed the bag of frozen vegetables against my face just a little harder before throwing them across the room. They landed in a shelf of pictures, causing them to shatter.
“God damn it” Devin exclaimed “Will you get it together”
“It’s over Devin” I yelled “She’s leaving again and this time she won’t come back! You know she won’t!”
“Then go after her” Devin yelled “Pull your head out of your ass, get on a plain and go after her before you lose her forever!”
“I don’t even know where she lives” I said, more calmly then I felt “How could I find her?”
Devin looked at me like I was an idiot, which I really was.
“I found her” He said “I’m pretty sure you can”
Anna’s POV
The moment I got on the plain I knew I was making a mistake. But I didn’t turn back, how could I? I had set my life there on self-destruct all over again. Maybe most of the soap opera was because of me. It was just better if I left.
I was back in Calgary for about a month now. Surprisingly enough the restaurant that I had been at before I left let me have my job back. They said that they understood that I had to leave because of family issues and that the place hadn’t been the same without me. It made me feel a little bit better about my decision to move on.
Amanda had picked me up from the airport. She held me and told me that it would be okay, even when I said that this time it had been my fault. She had laughed and told me that she doubted it. If she only knew.
I was surprised at how fast I was able to pull my life together after that. Things almost went back to normal instantly. Well, as normal as they could get for me. I was just trying to survive day to day. One night Amanda and some of my other friends took me out to a night club. I met a guy there and we had got along great. But one kiss from his lips and I bolted faster than you wouldn’t believe. I spent the rest of the night holed up in my room and sobbing, silently begging for Matt to come and save me, even though I knew that he wouldn’t.
After that things had consisted of getting up for work, eating and sleeping. I knew eventually I would get back into the outside world, but for right now I just needed to grieve.
