Maya, Lucas, Anna, and Clark all sat around the diner table, awkwardly, and silently eating dinner
"Why are you both so quiet"? Anna bit into her green beans
Maya looked up, and shrugged, Lucas just sat their on his phone
"Lucas, no phone at the diner table". Clark grabbed his phone "You know that".
Anna tried to strike up a conversation "How was your guys's day, anything new going on".
They were both silent, picking at their food
Clark pursed his lips "Lucas, how was your baseball game yesterday"?
"It was fine". Lucas said under his breath
Anna rolled her eyes "Speak up".
He snapped "It was fine"!
"Did you guys win"? Clark asked
Lucas nodded "10 to 4".
"Maya what about you"? Anna raised an eyebrow "Anything going on ? With school ? Aren't you on the school council"?
Maya gulped "I'm running for school president".
Clark smiled "That's amazing, sweetheart. Why didn't you tell us".
"You guys are more interested in Lucas's shit anyways". She muttered
"What"? Anna replied "Stop muttering".
Maya shook her head "Nothing".
"Okay what's going on"? Anna asked "You too are normally blabbing your ass's off".
"Nothing's going on". Lucas rolled his eyes
"May I be excused"? Maya asked "I need to finish my homework".
Clark sighed "Yeah, yeah just wash your plate".

Maya sat on her satin coral sheets, writing in her biology notebook, while Clark walked in
"Hey, sweat pea, can I talk to you. Just for a minute". Clark asked
Maya looked up and nodded "Sure".
"What's going on"? He sat down at her desk chair, "You and Lucas aren't acting right".
"I'm just tired". Maya sat up "I don't know what his problem is".
"It's not just that you guys aren't talking to us". Clark mentioned "You guys haven't talked to each other in weeks
Maya scratched her neck "I don't know what your taking about".
"Come on Maya", Clark started "You guys are always together, whether your arguing or hanging out".
Maya just stared at her homework
"Did something happen with you two"? Clark asked
Maya sighed "No, we just got into a really bad fight".
"You guys always get into fights, but they never last this long". Clark added
"I don't know dad". Maya shook her head "He's been a real asshole lately. I just don't feel like associating with him".
He pursed his lips "Alright. But if you ever need to talk, I'm here".
Maya nodded "I know".

(Maya and Lucas were 14)
Maya sat outside on the ledge of the swimming pool, her feet dipped into the water
Tears fell down her cheeks, her boyfriend of 6 months broke up with her, which seemed like the end of the world for a freshmen Maya.
She felt the pressure of a basketball hit her shoulder, already knowing Lucas threw it at her, she turned around and watched as Lucas laughed
"Stop it Lucas"! She turned around
"Come on Maya", he chuckled "Wanna shoot some free throws".
She sniffled "Not in the mood".
He rolled his eyes and sat down next to her "What's wrong"?
Maya scrunched her eyebrows and shook her head "What? Nothing. I don't know why you would ask that".
He chuckled "Because normally, if I threw a basketball at you, you would have me in a head lock by now".
Maya couldn't help but slightly giggle
"So somethings up". He said.
Maya sighed , and turned to him "Bryson broke up with me".
He scrunched his eyebrows "Why"?
She shook his head "Because apparently we've been dating for "too long". I mean, how fucked up is that".
"You want my honest opinion"? Lucas raised an eyebrow
Maya nodded, locking her eyes into his
"He probably likes another girl". Lucas replied
"Your probably right". Maya bit her lip "God dammit I'm so dumb. I don't know why I ever thought a girl like me could be with a guy like him".
"What's that supposed to mean"? Lucas raised an eyebrow
Maya shrugged "I'm just not good enough for him".
"Don't say that". Lucas shook his head "If anything he doesn't deserve you. I mean, your-.. your smart, and funny, um- and your..a - your pretty. It's his loss".
Maya pursed his lips "You think so"?
Lucas nodded "Yeah, and soon enough he'll come crawling back".
Maya chuckled "Thanks for making me feel better Lucas".
Lucas shrugged "It's fine".

Lucas snapped out of his thoughts, all he had to do was look at a picture of her, and all these old memories came back
He missed her. A lot. But he also really like Valeria. A lot. Which made him feel bad, because as much as he tried to push it to the back of his brain , he knew he was and will always be madly in love with Maya.

I'm gonna publish a new book in a month or so, i just don't want to do it now bc i wang to prewrite a lot (if not all) chapters before I publish it, so I won't be as stressed as I am now 💀
