I made a new cover :) I've attached it to this chapter so you can have a closer look...

Based on the whole love-triangle idea but I had to use a picture with Mary in it because Riley isn't a thing :((((

Enjoy the chapter!

John's POV:

"John. It's stakeout time!"

I froze. What. Stakeout? No.

"Sherlock..." I started, only to be cut of by Sherlock striding past.

"No time for chatter John! We need to get back to Baker Street and tell Riley, then we can get some answers!"

He made to leave the lab, but my feet wouldn't allow me to move.

I can't do this. Not now. Not whilst I'm feeling like... like.... this!
Stuck in a confined area with Sherlock all night, alone? No no no BAD idea John...

"Come on John, we need to hurry!"

"Right, yes, okay, of course..." I stumbled as I snapped out of my trance and shuffled towards the door, walking straight into a bench in the process.

I groaned in pain and when I finally reached the door, Sherlock's quizzical eyes scanned over me. I sighed and pushed passed him, not willing to play along with the games inside his head.

The cab ride back to 221B was a silence filled nightmare. Thoughts raced through my head whilst I attempted to keep a straight face, desperately avoiding Sherlock's impossible deductions.

"John!" I heard Sherlock yell.

"Mmm, what, yeah?" I mumbled.

"Erm... we're here" Sherlock replied bluntly. I looked up and realised the cabbie was staring at me, willing me to get out the cab.

"Oh.... sorry"

I clambered out and hauled myself up the stairs to our flat. Stumbling through the door, I tripped over something and went hurting across the room, only to land right I front of Sherlock- almost knocking him over.

"I am so sorry!..." I said quickly, as I felt my cheeks begin to redden.

"John?..." Sherlock began, " are.... are you okay?"

I looked up. He sounds worried.

Instead of replying I just stood and looked at him, gobsmacked. Suddenly Riley burst into the room.

"Is everything okay!? I heard a commotion from upstairs"

".... everything is fine" replied Sherlock calmly. His face completely deadpan but his eyes never breaking contact with mine.

Riley let out a sigh of relief. "Thank god. Is there any news?" She asked.

"We're going on a stake out. Tomorrow"

"Tomorrow!?" I cried, unable to control my mouth. I turned and saw both Riley and Sherlock staring at me with confusion. "Sorry it's just.... I... I don't think I can do tomorrow" I retorted quickly, taking back control.

"What? Why not?"

"Erm... I.... I have..... work! I have work!"

"John... you quit your job at the practice weeks ago..." Sherlock replied.

Shit. Shit shit shit.

"Oh. Right. Erm. Yeah....

Oh god I can't escape.

...then I guess tomorrow is... good then" I said, defeatedly.

"Brilliant" Sherlock beamed, "who wants tea?"

I nodded my approval and silently slipped into my armchair. Oh god what have I done?
