Chapter 7 ~Human for a Day~

Ashlee stood in her solitude room, Max got called for a quick meeting but reassured her completely to call him should she need him, "Losing your powers is traumatic. You may feel confused, or frightened that they've been lost forever.  Your battle with the android drained your Kryptonian cells of their solar energy. You are as vulnerable to your environment as any other human. You can get sick, feel pain, and even death. Worry not Ashlur, they will come back one your body has been rejuvenated. Do not be afraid, and until you've fully recovered, lean on those you trust. They will make this easier. I'm sorry I'm not with you during this frightening time, my beautiful daughter. My knowledge base is still at your disposal should you have need of it." Ashlee nodded, "Thank you, Dad." The hologram nodded and disappeared and Ashlee went back into her living room after shutting up the room. She sighed, it's been two days and usually Clark's powers were only out that long, maybe her's will come back soon. Someone knocked on the door and she stood up and sneezed, "If Max sent you, tell him I'm fine on my own, I love him but thanks for the concern." She opened the door to see James and Kara, "Oh, not Max or his assistant. Sorry, come in. Oh warning, I'm sick." James nodded, "We know, Cat sent Kara home and is complaining about you both getting sick on the same day." Ashlee groaned, "Want some homemade soup? Maybe some Dayquill? I have tons of tea bags and honey. Max is taking a great amount of care for me." Kara and James smiled, "So did you tell him?", she nodded, "Yeah, like two nights ago. I was tired and confused and it just slipped out. He said he told me it back but I was asleep as soon as I laid down on the couch so he told me when he woke me up for Hot tea with honey and a bowl of hot soup." They smiled and Ashlee sighed when the ground shook and she groaned. "Come on, let's go see if everyone is okay." She stood up and the ground shook again and she took in a deep breath as she fell. "Come on. Earthquake." She hurried outside and she began to feel slightly better. The streets where filled with runners and Ashlee grew to her normal color and her eyes turned to their normal blue, she smiled and her eyes flashed to heat vision. "I'm going to go check the city. I'll be back. Stay safe." James and Kara nodded and Ashlee took off into an alley and turned into Haven.

She landed at Catco first, in the 5 minutes it took her, Kara had a broken arm. "Is everyone alright?", everyone looked at me, "Is everyone unharmed? Ma'am, what happened?", she looked at Kara and her friend gave her a soft smile, "I was almost hit by a car but James Olsen saved me, I hurt my arm." Ashlee nodded, "I need to make rounds and help as much as I can. I'll be around." Cat nodded and she flew off going to Lord Technologies, "Haven, such a surprise." She rolled her eyes, "Is everyone alright here? No medical attention needed?", he shook his head, "I think we are all fine." She nodded, "I'm going to go check the city, stay safe all of you." Everyone nodded and she flew off again. Ashlee flew around and helped around the city, finding Maxwell Lord and landed, "This city is a powder keg. We can't wait around for the government to save us. Or Supergirl. When the city needs her the most, she's nowhere to be found. The world's most unreliable superhero. Let this be a lesson to all of us. We need to rely on ourselves, not aliens in capes." Ashlee stepped up, "And here I thought we shared a connection, Maxwell Lord. I'm here, I'm a alien, and I'm in a cape. Do you want my help or not?", the scene had grown quiet and he stared at her, she flicked an eyebrow up and he nodded, "I was going to give it to you anyway. Don't use the earthquake as a way to knock down Supergirl and build yourself up Maxwell Lord. Some might think you biased on superheroes. You knock Supergirl, you knock me too." She walked off and Max took a deep breath and followed her. "Haven-", she turned, "The people are already scared, and you're not helping Max. Why are you doing this?", her voice sounded much more like her own and not Haven's,  she took a deep breath and left. James and Kara showed up and Ashlee shook her head, "Some fans are here Max, best go sign autographs." She helped put out a fire and Max glanced down, she looked down and swallowed the lump in her throat. "She lost her powers fighting that military android, I think Haven did do, but since she's older and stronger they came back faster. I'd say, if Supergirl's powers aren't back by sometime today, they won't be back at all." Ashlee shook her head, "Help!", she flew over and had wide eyes, Max, James, and Kara coming over. "Please my dad needs help." Ashlee nodded, "Alright." She went over and sighed, "He's got a tension pneumothorax." Ashlee glanced down, "You're a doctor?", he nodded, "I did med school in a year." She nodded, "What do I need to do?" Max looked at her, "Get him to the hospital." She nodded, "Anything before I fly him so I don't injure him more?" Max nodded and looked over it, "It's a venous bleed. He must have lacerated another vessel." She nodded, "If I can find the vessel can you stop the bleeding so I don't risk injuring him more?", she searched, "What will it look like?" Max explained and she grabbed his hand and placed it where the vessel was lacerated before Max took his daughter aside, "I'm flying him." He nodded and she stood up, picking the man up and flying away. She landed at the hospital, "Maxwell Lord says he has a tension pneumothorax. Please can you help him?" They nodded and took him and she flew back, "I got him there. Do you want me to take you?", she shook her head, "I'll go by myself, people need you." Haven nodded and walked toward Maxwell Lord, "Thank you for telling me what it was Maxwell Lord. He nodded, "Thanks for helping." She glanced down, "When I fought the Android, I used my pain and anger from my life to help. I pushed it all into my heat vision and it weakened my powers. I didn't have anyone to talk to about it or to go to for help, so I suffered alone. When this happened today and the screams filled my ears, it all came back. I don't know why Supergirl's are taking so long to return, but I have hope that they will." She looked at him and heard glass shattering, "I love everyone, but it disappoints me when they use a situation of fear to steal things." She went to go but and building began to fall, she flashed forward and caught it, "Get people away from here! Now!" Max nodded and she grunted, still not having her full strength back, she started sweating slightly and she flashed back to memories. They were happy thing time and she gave a scream and lifted the building a bit higher, Max moving people and noticing her struggle, "Come on!" People hurried out of the way and Ashlee floated the building down and laid it flat before closing her eyes and taking deep breaths, Max walked over and she looked at him, "Thank you, Max. For helping this city when I can't." He nodded and she stumbled slightly, "Take it easy." She shook her head, "I can't, I have to help. I promised." She took a deep breath and looked up toward the sun, Max noticing just how familiar she looked. She blinked, "Cat's making a broadcast to counter act yours. Hope to the people." He nodded, "Right." She softly smiled, "Max, Superman and Superwoman both are symbols of hope. I'm a symbol of safety. Don't take that away when someone might need it the most, Maxwell Lord." She heard a scream, "I have to go."  She smiled and flew away headed toward the scream and helping people from a burning building before using her ice breath she smiled and noticed Supergirl fly by. Ashlee flew back to where Max was and landed with a smirk, "She's back." She smiled and looked at a bag, "Is that a cheeseburger with extra pickles?" He nodded, "Good choice." He smiled and she winked, "I'm going to let Supergirl cover some ground, I'm not exactly at my 100%. See you around, Maxwell Lord." She flew off and went home, changing into her pajamas and looking at her slightly tossed apartment. She sighed and began picking it up when the door opened, "Thank god you're okay." She smiled and hugged Max, "I was worried about you. I should have gone with you." Max smiled, "You were with me in my heart." She smiled, "I'm so glad you're okay. I love you and all, but my hate for hospitals might have over powered that love." He laughed and she looked at him, "Is that what I think that is?", he smirked, "What do you think it is?", she smirked, "I think my boyfriend somehow in all this chaos found me a cheeseburger with extra pickles." He smiled, "I might have, you look like you're feeling better." She smiled, "Totally but knowing Cat, she wouldn't have wanted me to come in due to fear of getting her sick with what she calls Microkillers." The pair sat on her couch and she smiled and kissed him on the cheek before starting to eat her burger, "I know you're Haven." She glanced up with wide eyes, "What? That's ridiculous. She's prettier and skinnier than I am." He gave her face and she glanced down, "Take off your glasses." She nodded and looked at him, "Say my name." She took of her glasses, "This is some weird foreplay Max darling." He slightly smiled, "Please." She nodded and looked at him, "Maxwell Lord." He smiled, "I knew it. You seemed pretty upset today." She softly smiled, "I was, I didn't think I'd be enough to save the whole city. You helped me with that man, thank you." She glanced down, "Is that why you keep seeing me? Because I'm her? I'm Haven." He shook his head, "I only suspected it today when you called me Max and you looked into the sun." She looked down, "You're too smart sometimes. Max, you have to swear not to tell anyone. Supergirl, Superman, and I aren't the only Kryptonians out there. There's a group of them, thrown into a alien prison that crashed to Earth. If they know who I am, they will target you, my friends, and Miss Grant. I don't want your life in more danger than it already is." He nodded, "I know, and I won't. I loved you before and I love you now. It explains why you just leave sometimes and why you're always so trusting with me as Haven. Is that why you always check up on me." She glanced down, "Part of it. Okay, most of it. I don't want you getting hurt when I know I can protect you. I couldn't protect my parents, and they died along with my planet." She glanced down, "I don't want to lose you and this planet as well. The other Kryptonians, they have something planned for Earth and I don't know what. It's being lead by Supergirl's aunt, who is no relation to Superman, named Astra and her husband Non. I have to figure out their plan and how to stop it. No matter the cost, that's why I didn't want you to know. I trust you and I love you, but this, being with me is dangerous." He looked at her, "I can help you. I love you Ashlee, remember that." She nodded and he kissed her softly, "Stay, just tonight." He nodded and the two laid down on the couch her back to his front and his arm around her waist and under her head, "I'll be here when you wake up." She smiled, "I believe you." He kissed her cheek and she turned slightly to kiss him softly, "Goodnight, Maxwell Lord." He smiled, "Goodnight Ashlee Morgan.", and the two fell asleep.

~Ayy it's Ireland, obviously, who else would it be. I've recently discovered Leonard Snart from LoT and Flash, again obviously, and although I'm writing this I'm also writing a LoT/Leonard Snart story which will be posted ASAP. So, if you'd like you can read it. Also, I'm in college so updates will be very random and spontaneously posted for this and for the new story I'm writing, therefore keep a watchful eye on the horizon. Oh and, I've gotten very addicted to watching Markiplier on YouTube with #NoShame, and I actually was watching him play FNAF 2 while writing this.
