"Lauren..."

Napalingon naman ako kay Daddy. He's intently looking at me like he's trying to figure me out.

Paniguradong wala nanaman ako sa sarili.

"Po?" I managed to politely ask.

"Your Kuya Vini went here earlier. Mayroon kaming pinag-usapan." panimula ni Daddy at agad na umusbong ang kabang nararamdaman ko.

Did Kuya Vina tell him about the secret relationship that I had during highschool? I hope not. Hindi pa ako handa sa eksplanasyong kailangan kong sabihin kay Daddy kapag nagkataon.

"Ano po 'yon?" I carefully asked, anyone can sense the nervousness in my voice.

"Your Kuya Vini along with your Ate Bella and Rojan will go to California." sabi ni Daddy at hindi ko na napigilan ang pagkawala ng buntong hininga.

Dad raised his eyebrows in suspicion because of my involuntary reaction.

"What's with the sigh in relief?" he curiously asked me.

"Uhm, wala po." agad kong pag-iling at ngumiti. "Akala ko po kasi hindi sila matutuloy."

Mas lalong tumaas ang kilay ni Daddy. He somehow looked surprised, but I know that he's doubting my actions right now.

"So, you already know about their trip beforehand?" Dad asked, trying to catch me.

"Ate Bella kinda told me about that but it was a few weeks ago pero hindi ko po sure nun kung matutuloy sila at kung para saan." sabi ko nalang, making an acceptable excuse.

Dad nodded. Mukhang naniwala naman siya sinabi kong kasinungalingan. I feel so guilty lying to my sick father but I promise to tell him the truth someday. Hindi lang talaga ngayon dahil hindi pa ako handa.

"Well, sinabi nga ng Kuya Vini mo na tuloy na sila sa California. They'll be leaving next week Friday." sabi naman ni Daddy.

"Bakit po ba sila pupunta ng Cali?" I asked, suddenly interested about their trip. "And Lisa's not coming with them?"

"Lisa's busy with her studies." sagot ni Daddy. "They want to bring Rojan to Disneyland, tska bibisitahin ng Ate Bella mo ang kaibigan niyang kakapanganak lang sa LA at pati na rin ang Belle Danse doon. I also told them to visit our house in San Francisco, pati na rin ang puntod ng lolo mo."

"So... matagal po silang mawawala, right?" I assumed.

"They'll be gone for two weeks." sabi ni Daddy.

"How I wish I can come with them but I have scheduled movie promotions." nalulungkot kong sabi.

I also want to go play in Disneyland and visit Lolo's grave in San Francisco. Plus, I also want to wander around the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and unleash my wizard life. I promise myself that after these busy schedules, I'm going to fly to California. I need a long break from this stressful work and life.

"For that two weeks, while your brother is gone, you'll be the onehandle Sarto." dire-diretsong sabi ni Daddy.

Napatango-tango nalang ako ngunit agad din akong napatigil sa pagtango at napalitan nang pag-iling-iling.

"No, no, no way, Dad!" I almost shouted.

Masiyado akong nabigla. Hindi ko inaasahan na ako ang kailangang maghandle ng Sarto.

"As I've said just now, Dad, I have a lot of movie promotions coming up. Hindi ko maha-handle ang Sarto. I'm busy because of work." I declined and reasoned out.
