I shivered as a cold breeze rolled by and pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time, 3:47 p.m.
"I have to go get ready for tonight, it's getting late."
"Already? It's only almost four!"
"Yeah but I'm a girl and have to put on make-up and do my hair so it looks perfect! You just have to throw on some clothes and you're done."
"You gotta point there.."
"Exactly, now lets go."
"Fine."
I walked home and set my bag down by the front door.
"Mom I'm home!"
"How was your day sweetie?" My mom Annabelle, Anna for short, kissed my forehead and gave me a big bear hug.
"It was okay."
"Why honey? Did something happen?" She got a worried look on her face.
"No i'm just tired, that's all it is. No need to worry mom!" My mom and I laughed.
"Okay, I was just making sure you were alright. Oh and what time is your date tonight?"
"It's at seven, why?"
"Just making sure you had time to do the dishes and get ready."
"May I please do them tomorrow afterschool?" I put on my best puppy-dog face.
"They have to be done today or else you won't have anything to eat your dinner on tomorrow!"
"I know but I don't want to get all dirty before my date, I wanna look good."
I think my puppy-dog face is working! "Fine...BUT you have to do the laundry for the rest of the week!"
"Oh okay mom, thank you SOO much!" I pecked my mom on the cheek and ran upstairs to start getting ready.
About two hours later I finished taking my shower, brushing my hair and teeth, blow-drying my hair, and straightening it. Now all I had to do was pick out an outfit and do my make-up!
I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me as I walked into my room. "Hmm...what should I wear?" I looked through everything in my closet and found nothing. "I have to have something I can wear!" I looked through my dresser drawer's and couldn't find anything in there either. "I swear I put my dress righ-" There was my dress, right in front of my eyes laying on my bed. It blended in with my black and white zebra print blanket. I picked it up and changed into it; It fit perfect! The dress was strapless, made out of some sort of white silky material, and had a black ribbon that went around the waist with a flower on the right. This is the dress I wore when Derek asked me out, exactly 3 months and 1 week ago. It's my favorite!
I made my way past all the clothes I had thrown on the floor looking for my dress and went into my bathroom. Time to do my make-up! I applied some natural brown eyeshadow, light pink blush, and a thin line of black eyeliner. After that, I put on some chapstick followed by a layer of sparkling pink lip gloss. "Done!"
I grabbed my small wallet and headed downstairs. The clock on the microwave was flashing the time, 6:19 p.m.
"Hey dad! Could you drive me somewhere?"
"It depends, where?"
"I'm going on a date at that Italian restaurant just a street or two down from K-Mart. It's not that far from here."
"A date huh? Sure.." My dad yelled as he ran upstairs, "Just let me grab my keys real quick!"
"Okay dad!" I yelled back.
