Why do we need to know this?
I thought during math class- the longest lasting 30 minute class ever. All those hilarious memes on tumblr about the fact that schools teach everything except the necessities ran through my worn down mind.

Mrs. Kris obviously noticed I had something on my mind besides her never ending lesson because she then she snapped my little daydream with a chainsaw when she called my name and asked for the answer.
"Well Miss Rivers? Can I have an answer?" She said in a too sweet tone. I could choose to say so many things in this moment it was overwhelming- give the answer (-23.58) and look like a geek, or give her a taste of her own medicine, or the classic "I don't know." Medicine it was.
"I don't know, can you?" I said looking straight at her thinning blonde hair. Her little half smirk wiped off and she was completely offended- but she restricted herself from doing anything too harsh because this is the answer she gave all her students too really any "Can I.." question.
"Miss Rivers, please pay attention in class. You've received two checks for unwelcome sarcasm and not paying attention."
A few little contained giggles erupted around me. I wanted to slightly die, but the fact that Mrs. Kris would now eternally answer a question directly made it worth it.

2 checks, that makes 4 this week. You can't actually get it big trouble unless you get 6 in a week. It's happened before, and let's just say, they don't go easy on you.

The bell finally rang and it felt as though all my worries escaped my overworked head. 4 minutes of freedom in the halls. My locker is generally near my next class (English) so I decided to unwind for a few moments and check my phone. My phone is always a source of distraction and I've gotten in removed quite a few times.
