"Good morning," I greeted Rose, giving her a tiny smile. I headed straight to the back where I put my things down, and started emptying half of a box of books to check in because I didn't want to lift a full one, which was quite heavy. I couldn't risk straining my precious little belly.

I watch through the window as the clouds cover the sun with a darkness only an early morning storm could bring. It reminded me of myself, how I was once the sun, casting light and warmth to a little world known as my family, but then the clouds came along and covered all of that up, leaving only rain in its wake. Sad, depressing rain.

I wanted, for a while, to just let my life go, and I tried, I tried until I found out I was pregnant, and then a little faint light appeared to keep me going. That little light was my flashlight guiding me through the darkness, we hadn't managed to find our way out yet, but a bigger flashlight had to be out there somewhere.

"Trissy, you okay in there?" Rose called softly, a hint of playfulness in her sweet tone.

"Fine, Rose. Lost in thought," I apologized quietly, almost certain the older lady couldn't hear me, chuckling faintly when I heard her scream okay. She was a funny, fragile thing that couldn't always understand the world, but she was my little escape.

I tended to stay away from the desk, that was Rose's job. I put the books back on the shelves and helped people find things if needed, only occasionally. Sometimes, if it was a guy that needed help, I would stutter and run away. It probably wasn't a pretty sight, but it was all I could manage.

Today was a quiet day, only because it was a Monday in the middle of October. If we did get any business, it would be at noon or before we closed. Rose stays busy on Saturday, but the weekends I take off, just because of the lot of people that come through.

"Tomorrow, a CEO is coming in to pick up a book I bought just for him, but it's during my lunch break. Do you think you can cover for me please?"

"Why," I whimper. "You normally eat lunch here."

"My twin is coming in from Georgia, I'd like to have lunch with her. Please?"

My hands started to shake as I though of a big buff man who was a CEO, which means he probably has bodyguards and I'll be stuck alone with them. All alone. I shudder with the thought, I'll have a panic attack and that isn't good for my growing belly.

Rose takes me into her arms, "It'll be okay, I promise. Please, I haven't seen her in forever," she pleads.

Tears fall down my cheeks, and I turn away from her embrace. "Okay," I murmur before wandering back into my little area, fear crowding my mind.
