I open the door to my brothers car and flop in the leather passenger seat.
"How was school?" He asks driving away.
"Fine" I reply.
"Nothing happen?"
"No"
"Nothing with Zach?" Goddamnit Ally.
"What did Ally tell you?" I ask.
"That he pushed himself onto you, made out with you and got all handsy until Dean pulled him of you"
"I could of handled myself"
"Sounds like it"
"Why did he grab you?"
"Because we made out at a party once and now he thinks he owns me"
Adrian growls.
"Chill, I'll be fine but the thing I should be worrying about is how many of my secrets Ally's told you"
"Pretty much everything"
"Ugh, bitch" I spit.
"Don't you dare, call her that" Adrian says slamming on the break.
"Ever" he continues.
"Sorry" I say putting my hands up in defeat.
Adrian continues driving and talking,
"She's my mate Imogen, she tells me everything and I tell her everything. You'll understand one day. When you find your mate, and hey if your lucky you'll find them on your birthday on the weekend."
"Hope not" I mutter.
"Why not?" He almost sounds hurt.
"I don't want to be owned, for some guy to control how my life is run" I continue.
"I don't run Ally's life"
"You try to and no guy can even look in her direction without you loosing your shit, just this morning you tried to keep her from wearing her cheer uniform. That's controlling Adrian"
He doesn't reply as he knows I've won.
"She doesn't complain" he mutters.
"No guy will ever own me" I say.
"But what if you find a mate?"
"Ignore him like every other guy"
Adrian laughs.
"That's impossible"
"Mum did it"
"Yeah because dad upset her"
"Same difference"
"Imogen, the mate pull makes it impossible for you to stay away from your mate. I mean mum and dad ended up together in the end. Fate will always end up"

My room is decorated like your average teenage girls room - covered in clothes. My room has a lavender purple wall, the rest plain white. I have photo frames of me and my friends lining the walls. My queen size bed with a black duvet and black sheets. In the corner is a plain white desk, a white book shelf above it, books spilling almost out of it. My desk, piled high with school work.
I drop my school bag to the ground and fall onto my bed.
I close my eyes and just relax.
"Imogen?!" My mother calls, interrupting my relaxation.
"What?!" I yell back.
"Come here!"
"Why?!"
"Just come here!"
I growl under my breath and walk lazily to the living room.
"What?" I ask.
"Your father and I need to talk to you, in private. Go to his office" my mother says.
I-Need-To-Talk-To-You
A sentence that can never lead to good things.
My mother leads the way to his office, she enters and sits in the seat next to my father.
"Take a seat" he says. I sit in the clientele seat in front of him.
"You summoned me?" I ask.
"Yes, we need to talk about Saturday because this Saturday you're turning 16 which means you'll be shifting for the first time, meeting your wolf and possibly finding you mate" my father says.
"And?" I ask.
"For your shifting ceremony, I will be inviting neighbouring packs to increase the chance of you finding your mate"
"I don't want a mate" My mother seems shocked.
"Why not?" She asks.
"Because 1) I don't want to be 'owned' by anyone and 2) dads too over protective, I won't even be able to get within 5 feet of the guy without him freaking out"
Mum looks at dad with a knowing look.
"I would not" he argues.
"Caleb we both know that's a lie" she replies.
"What happens if he isn't an Alpha or a Beta, or even a Delta. What if he's just a regular pack member? You'll hate him and don't say you won't"
"Excuse me, my best friend used to be a regular pack member, I don't discriminate"
"I don't want to talk about this" I say standing up, I storm away and I run, I run straight to the only person I can trust - Dean.

Tears drip down my face and off the end of my nose as I run full speed towards my Uncles pack. Why do my parents have to push this onto me! I don't want a mate. I just want to live my life and do what I want. Why can't I control my own life for once!
I bump into a hard chest, falling to the ground. I look up at the tall figure in front of me.
"It's alright, it's only the Alpha's niece, back to your duties" Jace says calling off the pack guards. They all scatter in different directions. He holds out a hand and helps me up.
"Are you alright?" He asks me.
I shake my head, "no"
"What's wrong?"
I take a deep breath and calm my crying.
"Where's Dean?" I ask avoiding the question.
"Dean? Why?"
"He's the only werewolf friend I can trust who won't tell my parents and who will understand"
I'm close to crying again.
"Um in his room I think, I'll let him know your coming"
"Thank you"
Jace nods his head in submission and I raise a questioning eyebrow. I turn around and see my Uncle Aidan.
"Imogen, sweetie what's wrong?" He asks as soon as I turn around.
"I don't wanna turn 16" I sulk and he hugs me.
"I know sweetheart" he says.
"I need to go find Dean"
"Why?"
"Because he won't tell my parents"
I run away again to the pack house. I knock on the door to Dean's room. Dean answers the door shirtless and wearing a pair of sweatpants.
"Imogen what's wrong?" He asks.
"I'm turning 16" I say.
"Yes you are" he says slowly,
"Come inside and we can talk" he says.
I enter his typical teenage boy styled room with dark blue painted walls, his walls covered in band posters. I sit on the edge of his bed, he sits next to me.
"So you're probably wondering why I came to you upset instead of Ally or one of my other werewolf friends" I say.
"Yes" he replies.
"Well I found out everything I tell Ally, Ally tells Adrian and Adrian tells my parents and all my other friends if commanded will tell my parents and I can't have them do that, and you're like one of my close friends and so I came to you" I blurt out.
"Okay, but why are you upset?"
I explain to Dean about how my parents are controlling my decisions and how they want me to find a mate but I don't want a mate.
"Hmm, sounds like they're just trying to parent" He says. I frown. That's not the answer I wanted. He laughs at me.
"Imogen, whether you like it or not your going to find your mate and I'm sure he'll love you right. I'm sure he won't be over protective and controlling like you fear. He'll be perfect for you, but anyway, you might not even find him on the weekend, I mean look at me, I'm 17 and I still haven't found my mate. Your dad was 21 before he even found his mate. My dad was 19. There's no rule that says you have to find a mate straight away, so don't fret"
"Okay, thank you" I say, standing up,
"No problem" he replies hugging me.
I open his bedroom door and waiting out the front is my Uncle.
"Were you trying to listen in to the conversation?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Wow you look like your mum when you do that and no, his rooms sound proof, I couldn't" Uncle Aidan replies, "I've also called your brother to come pick you up"
"I could of walked"
"It would of taken you almost an hour"
"I could of run"
"You running?" He says sarcastically.
"How do you think I got here" I argue. He laughs,
"Okay, I believe you that you did some form of exercise for once in your life. Also, Henry wants to say hi and Cordelia wants you to meet her mate"
"Where's Alexia?"
"Probably hanging out with your brother. They're best friends, just like your mum and Aunt planned but I sometimes swear she's more a part of your pack than mine, she's always over there" I chuckle.
"I'll make sure to say hi to them on my way out"
"Okay sweetheart. Nice seeing you again. Bye" Uncle Adrian says giving me a hug and lightly kissing my cheek.
