So I reread the last chapter and omg..was I drunk? High? Because dang it was more explicit then I normally write. But ok let's continue.

"Tell me," Jai said with a high amount of concern, "what's going on with you?" I remained silent and stared at my feet, as we walked down the school hallway. "You're being really secretive and just," he paused with a sigh,"it seems like something is going on."

I can't tell him anything.

"Are you even listening to me Ave?"

I narrowed my eyes irritably, "I have ears, don't I?"

Jai didn't respond, but it looked like his face dropped.

"I have to get to class," I inform Jai as I make a sharp turn away from him and into my classroom.

"Avery!"

I turned around to spot ... of course... Blake.

"Oh hey," I replied, not knowing what else to say.

As I plopped down into my assigned seat, Blake plopped on top of my desk.

Here we go...

"So how's life?" He smirked and added, to my disgust, "Babe."

I scrunched up my face and responded, "I think we've had this conversation Blake..," I sighed, "we are friends, nothing more."

He chuckled at that. I don't know why though. There was no joke being made...

"Friends with benefits then?" He said leaning closer to my face.

I didn't say anything so he backed up still showing amusement in his face.

"So I signed us up for the Halloween Bash Committee."

"You did what?!" I shouted a little bit too loud, causing the conversations around us to stop. Now, in a low whisper, I scolded, "Why would you do that!"

"Well, babe, I thought we could use some time to be together ," he grabbed my hand and interlocked my fingers with his.

Immediately I unlocked them and stood up from my seat.

"If you'll excuse me, Blake."

I made my way out the door, ignoring the fact that my teacher was walking in to begin class at the same time. I'll just take the tardy.

"Alright, what," Hilary groaned as she entered the bathroom that I texted her to come into.

Best friend goals right here.

"I need you to join the Halloween Bash committee," I smiled nervously hoping she'd agree.

"Why would I do that," she narrowed her eyes.

"Blake kinda signed us both up for it so we could have time together and I'm kinda afraid that I might do something crazy again."

I seriously have a boy issue. And a loyalty issue...and many more issues..

"I bet you'll do something stupid too." Hilary chuckled. "I'll sign up...only because I ship you and Jai."

I spread my arms open and buried Hilary with my bear hug.

"I ship me and Jai too!" I chortled.

Hilary pulled away and rested her hand on my shoulder.

"I'll make it my duty to keep you with Jai," she said with a grin.

"Finally you're helping," I groaned and playfully hit her arm.

"Shut up, I always wanted to help."

I rolled my eyes. "So why didn't you?"

"I've come to realize that this is serious. You and Jais' relationship is on the line here!" She squeezed my forearms. "I gotta step up now."

"Thank you for finally realizing that."

"Now what's up with...William," Hilary questioned, changing the entire mood of the conversation.

I lied, "Nothing we just have to work out some issues."

Sighing, Hilary put her arm around my shoulders and walked with me out the bathroom door. There's no way I could tell Hilary the truth though. She can't be involved in all this... I just need to get my mom to see his true side.

So that's what led me into this situation.

Me and my mom were having another shouting match when I got home. She was all dolled up for William with her tight red dress and I tried to stop her...causing some hurtful words to be accidentally blurted.

"I don't know what makes you say that I'm a slut or a whore because I've changed!" My mom screamed in my face with her finger digging into my chest.

"You're not a crackhead anymore–true— but the way you treat me hasn't changed," I paused, "at least since William came."

Her face began to turn even more red as soon as I said this. It kind of resembled the color of a fire truck or a tomato.

"What is wrong with you?" She hit her fist on the wall beside us. It was like she obtained super strength all of a sudden because she made a large dent form in result.

"Chill out!" I gasped. "What's wrong with you. How do you not see what he's doing to you?"

She shook her head and pushed past me toward the door.

I guess I need another strategy.
