Chapter Ten:Apologies

I cough a little harder than before. I stop walking. There's feet not too far from me. I jog over to them. It's Araceli. She's breathing but unconscious. That's great to know. There's cuts and scrapes on her face, neck, and arms. She must've been defending herself. It's nothing too serious.

I pick Araceli up. I turnaround and walk out of the smoke. It's a bit harder than walking in. My vision is blurry and I'm getting weak. 

"Thor," Clarice called.

"Coming," I mumble.

I'm now out of the smoke. Clarice is waiting there for me. Others are going around checking on others. Clarice runs up to me.

"How is she," Clarice asked.

"Hopefully ok," I say before coughing again.

"What about you?"

"Fine."

"Are you sure?"

"No, but check on Araceli first. She was in there longer than I was."

"Come with me."

I follow Clarice. She lead me to the back of an ambulance. I set Araceli down. Someone comes over and checks on her. I look at Clarice.

"What happened," I ask.

"An explosion went off. Sif was closest to it," Clarice says.

I forgot about Sif. I was too wrapped up with Araceli. I hope Sif's ok.

"Where is Sif? Is she ok," I ask worriedly.

"About that," Clarice says.

"What about it?"

"Loki took her."

"How?"

"I tried warning her but she was still recovering from the explosion. Loki got to her. Steve defended them while they left. There was nothing I could do."

"It's not your fault. You tried your best."

"I know but I felt as if I didn't do good enough."

I hug her. She hugs me back.

"Is it Steve," I whisper.

"Yes. I'm still not used to him being gone. I miss him terribly," Clarice whispers back.

"We will get him back. Don't worry."

"How do you know that?"

I lean back. I stare Clarice in the eyes.

"I promise you that we will get Steve back. I am going to be the leader that Odin taught me to be," I say.

"I'm going to hold you to that," Clarice says.

"Ok. You know me. If you need to talk about anything let me know. Or someone else know. We are here for you.'

"I know that. I will talk to someone if I need to. It'll either be you or Araceli. You two are the most understanding now that Steve's gone."

"I understand."

"Thor, Clarice," Fury says.

Clarice and I release each other. I turn around. Fury is standing a few feet away.

"Are you two ok," Fury asked.

"I'm fine. Thor still needs to be looked over," Clarice says.

"Thor get looked over. Clarice tell me what happened."

Clarice walks over to Fury. She begins repeating her story. I walk off the get examined by an medic.
