Hogwarts is quiet for once. Everyone is asleep. Except one person.
Sixteen year old Harry Potter, one of the only people in Hogwarts with severe insomnia and is often seen as tired with black bags under his eyes and often not paying attention (or so they thought). He was currently standing in the middle of the empty Great Hall. He stands in silence just looking at the roof. He moves slowly, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a magically charged cellphone and headphones. He places his headphones before turning on his music.

He hits repeat and closes his eyes. He sways at first before moving with unusual grace that he's never had during the day. He moves to the music, looking like a ballet dancer. The movement makes him relax as it reminds him of his mother as she use to rock and dance around with him as a baby and dance around as a spirit when he was growing up. Harry feels her presence, dancing with him. He smiles slightly before tears begin to fall. He feels other ghosts joining in as it gets to the early hours of the morning. He gets cold shivers as he dances meaning he's past through someone. He keeps going in hope to stay with his mother.
.......
Harry feels the castle waking up but his mother stays. He feels the room shift as the room expands and the tables appear. He feels the staff's magics as the approach the great hall. His mother goes to leave when he grabs her hand as though she was still alive, forcing her to dance with him. Soon she's laughing as they dance. The doors open and the staff freeze. Soft singing reaches them before they spot a young teen and a nearly solid ghost.
"...let's see which of us is better
I guarantee, that for your endeavor. I'll see it end: here now and forever. For so long now I have seen. All of the paths and where they all will lead. I made a promise to a friend, but. Now it's one I can't keep. You have betrayed every soul, Of every monster you have encountered. You've generated Genocide, but. I refuse to be beat. Now I know that I'm alone. But I have to stop you where you stand. so you won't win the game. So it's for your friends and mine I have to fight right now. I have to give it my all. I won't hold anything back so. You had better be prepared. I will sacrifice everything that I have somehow. So please my friend. Just let this end. Come on now kid, you and me together. Come and let's see which of us is better. I guarantee, that for your endeavor. I'll see it end: here and now. So in this fight, you are going to pay. For the lives lost, all those that you have slain. So come here kid, because it is the day. You will now know the true meaning of pain......" The voice of the teen sounds familiar in someway. The ghost laughs and most of the staff crumble a little. It's Lily's laugh. Professor Snape moves forwards as Lily and the boy split. Lily dances towards the staff and Harry twirls in the opposite direction. Students soon arrive but are blocked from the teachers. Hermione Granger spots her first friend dancing seemingly not knowing what's going on. She shoves past the rest of the students and breaks through the teacher barrier.
"Harry!" She exclaims running to get to him. He dances out of her reach before bowing slightly. He takes her hand and dances with her. He soon spins away from her and she sits down at the closest table trying to catch her breath. She looks up to see a mostly solid Lily Potter dancing and keeping up with her son. Only then does she notice her friends tears and closed eyes. She sees Professor Snape strode forwards. Lily backs off and her son grabs the nearest person, Professor Snape. Harry forces the potions professor to dance with him. He feels the man's magic curling and reacting around the hall. Harry allows part of his magic to curl around the proffessor as they dance. The potions master easily keeps up with the teen but soon tires. He steps away from boy and Lily floats over.
"He's been doing this since curfew. He hasn't been able to sleep since he was a small child thanks to my sister, so I let him dance. He'd usually be asleep by now, but his magic is restless." The potions professor turns to her and stares in shock. She blinks.
"What!?" He hisses.
"What? Didn't Albus tell you that my baby has been abused all his life and is constantly scared to sleep? Or that I was still here?" He shakes his head. She glares at the Headmaster. "I'm going to say goodbye to Harry." She states before she floats to her son.
.......
Harry can feel everything. People's magic, the movements, the movement of the air. He feels his mother's magic telling him to stop and he does, slowly swaying. She pulls down his headphones and he opens his eyes. She stares at him before smiling.
"I'm glad you at least got my eyes, nose and hands." He stares at her.
"You're leaving." He states and she looks down.
"Yes, I have to. But always know..." He cuts her off before she can make an excuse.
"I know, it's your time to go. Just go make sure that dad isn't causing trouble with padfoot while there." She smiles.
"Oh my brave boy. Stay safe and kick his ass." She caresses his face.
"I've always done as I've been told." She laughs.
"I love you baby." She says as she begins to fade.
"I love you too mama." He stumbles back as though shoved as she disappears. He sways a bit and he notices his boyfriend sneaking through the staff door. Harry stumbles over to the blond and nearly collapses on him.
....
A week later, the headmaster announces that the school will be hosting a ball.
....
A week later finds Harry in the Great hall watching everyone dance. He huffs as people dance too slow for the fast paced music. He rubs his eyes before standing and flinging off his formal robe. He walks over to Draco. The Slytherin's all pull their wands and aim it at the boy wonder. Harry ignores them and grabs Draco and pulls him to his feet and onto the dance floor. They stop in the middle and Harry forces Draco to take the feminine role. Harry closes his eyes and relaxes. They start to dance as a new song plays. Harry knows this song, it's slow at first then gets faster. As Harry leads the dance, people back off the watch. As the rhythm gets begins to get faster, Draco breaths out "dear god" as Harry leads them to go faster. Draco pulls away and Harry continues to dance on his own. Harry feels a cold presence before his magic turns them semi solid and grabs them. He forces them to dance with him to the fast paced music. He spins away as the music gets to the drop. Harry stops as the music suddenly silenced. He can feel people holding their breaths as the music starts again. He begins moving, slow, steady, eyes closed, deep breaths. His magic leaks into the hall as he slowly relaxes. His magic fades the glamours around him and people gasp. Gone was the small boy who had everything gone wrong to him. Standing there was a beautiful young man who saved the world.
He soon sways and goes to Draco who is sitting at a table. He sits in his lap and feels at peace as he slips into a sleep.
..................
The next few nights he finds himself welcoming the peace that Draco provides him.
