Chapter Thirteen

I peeked through the open door of the auditorium. There were already many people inside, chattering away, the sound of it travelling through the entire room.

Pushing the door open a little wider, I walked in; wondering where I should sit. Searching for a seat, my head moved from left to right as I went further down the stairs. Then someone called out my name. I turned this way and that, but couldn't see the person calling.

So I went further down.

"Nia!"

There it was again, it seemed to be coming from beside me, so I looked to my left and saw Amy and Kai sitting in the middle of this row.

Amy was waving at me, motioning that I could sit next to them.

I cocked my head to one side slightly, as if asking with that movement if it would be really okay.

Kai nodded vigorously and started motioning to me as well.

So, I moved through the row of chairs, excusing myself a few times to others sitting there.

When I'd reached them, I hesitated a little, saying, "Are you sure I can sit here?"

Amy laughed, "Of course! Don't be so shy!"

I could feel my cheeks warming up a bit at that true statement of hers and sat down. Kai sat on her other sider, which I considered a bit strange, having experienced their small word exchange yesterday.

He leaned forward a little, so that he could look at me from past Amy and grinned, "Hey Nia."

Amy rolled her eyes, "Stop it."

He frowned, "I'm not doing anything!"

She sighed, "Sure you aren't.  You're flirting again."

His eyes went wide, "What? I'm not flirting! I was just greeting Nia!"

"For you, that's flirting." Amy stated without looking at him.

He gasped, "You did not just pull a Doctor Who on me!"

She grinned and said to me, "Actually, I did. And I don't regret it!"

Doctor Who.

Another favourite TV show of mine. Of Lynn too.

I tried shaking that thought off a little bit and smiled at Amy, "And you shouldn't. That's a wonderful show."

Amy smiled widely," Oh it so is!" Then she turned to Kai, "HA! You see! It's good!"

Kai rolled his eyes, "Yeah. Sure it is."

She turned back to me, pointing to Kai with her thumb "This eejit thinks quite differently about it."

He huffed, "Yes, I'm not a fan." Then he added sarcastically, "Excuse me for having my own opinion."

"You've never even seen a single episode of it! How in ye gods name, could you form an opinion then, huh?" Amy said, getting annoyed.

"I have! How else would I know the quote?"

"Probably from the internet, from tumblr or something." She answered without a moment's hesitation.

Kai grumbled at that, which told me that Amy was probably right. I looked at my hands in my lap, smiling at what I'd just seen.

They sure have interesting conversations!
