What?
A simple and general idea of what the book should be
Why?
Before actually writing a book you need to have a clue on what it should be about and also how you will get to what you want. Don't panic if you only have a slight idea and barely know what will happen.
How?
1) set an achievable goal
2) set a time for that goal to be achieved
3) make a plot that is very simple just an idea
4) set up a genre ( chapter 4)
5) imagine the characters (chapter 19)
6) imagine a setting:
Settings are times and places. An example would be a high school in the future or a summer camp on the moon in 2160 or just a nice cafe in Paris in 1999.
Extra tips:
Follow your guts. Every author has this tiny voice in their head that tells them what happens next. Try and see where it takes you. You can even get inspired by your dreams!!
