Why?
The cover is most of the time what attracts the reader to your book! So if it is beautiful then more people would read your book!
How?
Unless your book is a fan fiction I suggest that you don't make a person on your cover. If for example someone hates Justin Bieber and they find a cover with Justin Bieber on it they most likely won't read it! So keep it symbolic!
Try relating your cover to the story title or to the plot. If not then just put something that would attract you like for example a butterfly or a rose. Make sure that your account name is visible and attracting. Also never say too much to colours!! make it as colourful as you want or as simple as anything can be!
