Finding The Right Powers

The doctors say she's in good care and is going to be okay. When I first walked in she was hooked up to wires and machines and it made me scared. I remembered it's been like 20 minutes and I wanted to see my friends now that Jordy is stable. So I go to the waiting room and find my friends. We decided to go outside with Rick and wait there.
"That's great news she's okay." Fred said.
"Yep."
"Hey, what's wrong?" Rick asked.
"I was in such a rush I forgot my me-medicine."
"Medicine for what?" Marcy asked walking and balancing on the short brink wall boarding around flowers outside of the hospital.
"Oh-um-I take medicine for hearing Mary and seeing what I see."
"Wait what?" Marcy got down and looked at me.
"Yeah. As a kid I would always talk to Mary, then I turned 12 and my mom thought is was weird and took me to someone. Secretly I stopped taking them two weeks ago when I first came here."
"Well that's why everything happen." Marcy quietly said.
"What? It's my fault what's happening to Jordy?"
"No. No!" She quickly said.
"She means why Mary returned." Chance said sitting with all of us on the short brick wall.
"She left?" I asked.
"Well yeah. Death took her and then two weeks ago she returned out of no where with no memory of being taken." Fred explain.
"Wait? What? That can happen?"
"Yeah. We don't know why or how but he takes and gives." Rick said while getting up and looking at us. "Whoa."
"What?" Fred, Chance, me, and Marcy all asked.
"Look." He said pointing to the flowers behind us.
"Whoa." We all said together.
"They were alive when I was walking up there."
"We know, but then how are they all the sudden dead now?" Marcy asked.
"Death!" We all said looking at each other and running into the hospital. They followed me running into Jordy's room. What? She's fine. She's just sleeping. I mean that's good but how? They explained when something dies that's a sign of Death as arrived.
"Maybe someone is dying here?" I assumed and asked.
"Well then Miss Harp would call us to get Death." We all went out into the hallway so we didn't wake up Jordy, also Maria came back with food for her and Jordy for when she gets up. She waved to us and I showed her my friends.
"Raylynn, come back now." Said Mary.
"What?"
"What?" They asked while stopping in their tracks in the hall.
"Mary told us to get back to Heaven."
"Okay then let's go." Fred said.
"No. Maria? Jordy?" I asked.
"You can still hear Maria if she calls for you." Rick said. I hesitated.
"Okay."
"It's going to be okay." Marcy said patting my shoulder.
"Come let's go."
So we made are way back to Heaven Database and Mary hugged me the second I walked through the portal.
"It's okay. Jordy's gonna be fine." I said hugging back and smiling.
"That's great but I'm happy that you found your power!" She said all excited.
"Wha-what? My power? What's my power? I got a power? I found my power?" Maybe stop asking questions and let her explain.
"You have powers?" The team said all excited.
"Yeah." I said sadden and goes back to the portal after Mary tells me my power. I can't believe it. I'm just like Death.
"Wait, Ray?" I can hear them calling for me as I leave.
"What was that about? What's her power?" Rick ask Harper.
"Miss Harp? Tell us?"
"You guys should go find her. Make sure she's okay."
The team was confused. Harper said they should ask Raylynn themselves. So they used the portal and thought of Ray. They ended up in her bedroom.
"Really? You guys couldn't leave me be? Look I'm sorry. I didn't know I was messing everything up." Raylynn said with tears in her eyes.
"Harper didn't tell us your powers." Marcy explained, confused, while sitting next to me on my bed. "What's that?" She asked pointing to the photo album book in holding in my lap. "Pictures of me and my mom. It's all I have left of her."
"Oh. I'm sorry." You can tell she's trying to change the topic waiting until I feel better to tell them my powers.
"When I get sad or mad plants die." I said tossing the book the floor.
"Then maybe calm down." Marcy said giggled.
"I'm just like Death! It's not funny." My voice for loud then back to being low.
"Hey, don't say that!" Fred said walking over to me and touched my shoulder. "You were upset about everything and didn't know."
"Yeah. Death kills on purpose. You will never do that." Marcy said.
"Thanks but--"
"But what?" Marcy said.
"Shh!" I said quickly in a whisper tone. Now all I see is Death. He's walking around Mary's body.
"Rayl-"
"Shh!"
Death is just pacing around her lifeless body. What is this? Wait they said she was taken by him. Mary!
"I'm here sweetie. It's okay. Please come back."
"Fine."
"What? You okay?" Marcy asked.
"Yeah. Let's go back to the Heaven Database."
"Sure, but why?"
"I just seen Death pacing around Mary and she told me to get to Heaven."
"Okay." With that they all started to walk to my bedroom door. "Wait, what?" Rick said.
"You seen Death?" Fred asked
"I told you I see stuff, but she said she's fine. It must have been something from the past."
"That's not normal, not even for having powers." Chance said. I said just left to go to Heaven.
So when the team got there they all asked why was Raylynn got more powers then the rest of the team.
"Well this morning I did tell you guys that she's like the human Yin-Yang with more power then all of us." Miss Harper explained.
"Yeah but-wait? Human? I thought we were angels?" I started.
"You're still human, you're like a hybrid." Mary explained.
"Oh, but still, what was that? You looked dead. It was scary. It looked live but I couldn't do anything about it. And I could still hear the real world but not see it."
"Visions. Your other power." Miss Harper explained.
"So you know everything, what else am I going to get?"
"That I won't know." She laughed.
"Well still---No. No!" I yelled running to the portal.
"Ray? What's wrong?" Marcy asked following me.
"Beeping. I hear it. Maria crying. No!"
I quickly portal-ed myself to the hospital. When I got to the room I seen Doctors working on Jordy and moving her to somewhere else.
"They're taking her to surgery." Maria saying crying lightly.
"It's okay." I said hugging her. We walked to the waiting room. I see my friends waiting for me. Even Rick. I walk over to them and thank them. They're the best for people I just met today.
It's been like 45 minutes. Then the doctor and his nurse comes out.
"Jordan's family?"
"How is she?" Maria asked.
"She's stable again." The doctor says.
"One of you can see her now." The nurse says.
"You go." I told Maria. "I'll wait outside with my friends again. It's okay." She nods and follows the doctor and nurse. I head outside with the team. We just sit outside on silent. It was like this inside too. We don't know what to talk about. I get up and move away from the plants. I'll probably go kill them some more.
"Ray, sit." Rick says.
"No. I'll probably just-"
"No. You're not mad therefore you're okay sitting here." Well he is right, I guess.
"Fine." I say as I sit down on the short brick wall again.
"So what don't we know about you?" Fred asked. Too much.
"I like to write and take pictures. Today would have actually been some adventure to take some."
"Ha, yeah." Fred agrees.
"But I mean like about your powers. You see, I remember wanting it to snow so we could have a snow day at school and I wouldn't have to go but then I made it actually snow." Fred explained.
"That's cool, but doesn't always snow here?"
"Not in May."
"Whoa. I don't know about my powers. I mean I would always make up imaginary friends since I didn't have actual friends then one day Mary started to talk to me and it just stuck."
"How could someone not want to be friends with you?" Fred asked.
"Flirt." You could hear Chance whisper again. That's when Fred reached behind over me to slap him. We all laugh at that.
"Actually Fred feels-" Rick started and Fred finished.
"You want a slap too?"
"Nah, I'll pass." Everyone but Raylynn looked at him with wide eyes.
"Wha-Ohh. Sorry."
"It's okay. I actually wasn't taking it that way until they noticed." I said clear as day looking behind us and at the flowers.
"I'm hungry. We didn't eat dinner yet." Chance changed the subject by started talking to Fred. They both get up.
"Come on, Ray." Fred said.
"What?"
"We're going for food and you're joining."
"Can't I just stay out here?"
"If I have to go in there and feel all emotional, then you're joining." Rick said pulling me along lightly by the wrist and not stopping.
We're all sitting around this lunch table in the hospital cafeteria. It's almost 8 PM. This was the most fullest day ever. My phone buzzes.
Maria- Hey sweetie. Jordy's sleeping and staying over and I'm going to stay with her. Want to stay home by yourself or have them bring in an extra chair?
"What's up?" Rick asked me.
"Maria texted asked if I wanted to stay home alone or stay here. I'll tell her stay home alone-"
"Or we could have a sleep over?" Marcy asked with a smile.
"Really? You just met me."
"Well you felt bad for killing flowers so I don't think I have to worry about you killing my family." Marcy laughed.
"Hahaha, you're a little dark one, aren't ya?" I said texting Maria, asking if I can stay with Marcy.
"I know right, her brain is pretty scarry at times." Rick said smiling at the girl. She just smiles looking at her tray of food.
Chance started to slowly raise his left hand then Rick put it down with his hand.
I looked at them, confused.
"Don't ask." They all said together except for Chance who was smiling while eating his fries.
"Are you sure you don't want anything?" Marcy asked asked.
"No. Thank you though. I'm fine. I had dinner." They all nodded and kept eating.
"Eat." Mary whispered in my ear.
"You feel annoyed." Rick either asking or stating towards me.
"That must come in handy to know when to let a person be in peace." I said with a Little annoyed tone. He face has a sorry look so I forget about it and forgive.
"See, that's why he has had more girlfriends then you ever had." Fred said laughing.
"Shut up." Chance said quietly laughing.
"So you two don't get along?" I asked.
"We're siblings, that's our thing." Chance said.
"Wait, so you don't have a sibling?" Marcy asked.
"Nope."
"She's lying."
"Why lie to us, friend." Chance asked sarcastically hurt.
"It's complicated." I laughed hiding the pain.
"Yeah but I thought--" Marcy was going to keep talking but Rick stopped her by throwing a onion ring at her.
"You could have said shh, you know?"
"Yeah." He grinned while putting his elbows on the table. "My powers weren't always the strongest at first. I had to take Miss Harps classes, you'll take them too soon to help you use your powers."
"Oh fun. More learning." They all laughed.
It was getting late so we all left the hospital and then they joined the walk to my room for packing for a sleep over with Marcy. I grabbed my basic night clothes and day clothes and then I remembered my journal.
"So you live in the attic?" Chance asked.
"By choice." I laughed.
"Okay." He added. "Nope, I need more, why?" Asking with a more confused face.
"It's cool. I mean like--here, look." I walked over to my one Melanie Martinez record hanging on my wall and took the key off on the back of it then walked over to the other side of my room. I took down my one Panic! At The Disco poster and it shown a unpainted-secret door.
"Whoa." Is all I heard them say. It is really cool. I found it after we moved in. Maria and Jordy doesn't know about it so it's fun to have some where to go and no one knows.
"Are you guys coming?" I asked as I crawled in through the door.
"Sure. I'm game." Chance said. Rick and Marcy followed. Fred was the last one.
"Wow, it's actually really roomy in here." Marcy said.
"Yeah. I like it. I can write in here when I think quite places."
"Yeah, what do you write." Rick asked.
"Um. Really anything. I try to write scary stuff like R.L. Stines but then I never stay with it. Same with if I write something true like a diary. I have a boring life."
"Well now you don't." Marcy said.
"Yeah, you could write about us. How you're joining the team. About Death and Mary and Miss Harper." Chance laughed.
"And if someone finds it?" I asked worried.
"Fiction." Fred laughed.
"True." I laughed back.
So after being in my secret second room with a 4" height, we crawled back out and left my house. Chance, Fred, and Rick went there own ways home and me and Marcy just ported to her house. I'm loving the lazy way now.
When we got to her house she introduced me to her aunt. She's staying with her until her father gets back from the military. She's really strong for not always being worried. Or at least showing it. I wonder if Rick ever feels it. Me and her can relate on having a drop out for a parent also. My dad left my mom before I was born, and Marcy's mother left when she was 2 years old. She doesn't remember her. She doesn't even have a picture. I don't know what my dad looks like either. We stayed up for like two hours talking about random stuff. It was nice to have a friend my own age.
"We should probably get to bed so we could wake up for school." Oh yeah, I forgot it's only Tuesday. And with that we went to bed.
