Epilogue

I sat down on the chair looking at all the people dancing to the music.

Riley and Farkle were having way too much fun and all the other couples were having a lot of fun too.

I stood up to go grab some punch.

I drank some and ended up drinking a lot.

I started dancing to every song.

Can't. Stop. Drinking.

I tried to stop drinking, I just couldn't.

What was in this drink?

Oh god.

I fell on the floor.

My head was in pain, the last thing I saw was just Riley looking at me saying that it was going to be alright.

After that, everything went black.

There was something in the drink.

Did you not see that boy who was standing near the punch for a long time?

But how would he get alcohol? This is middle school.

Suddenly, I was able to open my eyes.

I was in a hospital since I was in a hospital gown.

My arm was hooked up to some machine and my blood was running through it.

All of a sudden, a doctor walked in.

"Maya Penolope Hart, is it?"

I nodded my head.

"I have to ask you, did you have any speed before the dance?"

"Speed?"

What the heck? Speed?

They think I took speed.

"Yes, we found large amounts of speed in your system." The doctor said.

"All I remember was drinking punch and dancing like crazy. Then, I just fell to the floor."

"Well, something must have been in that punch. Your mom and friend are outside, I'll tell them that you're okay."

The doctor walked out and I took a breath.

Speed?

Drugs?

Pills?

First of all, whoever was able to put that drug in the punch is super sneaky and that drug should have put Riley in the hospital since she had so much.

UGH.

Why was this happening to me?

Riley walked into the room.

"Are you okay?" She asked me.

"Yeah, I'm just really out of it."

Suddenly, a gunshot went off.

I heard someone say something in the mic.

"Patients, lock the door! I repeat lock your door," The doctor took a breath and spoke again.

"Close the blinds as well and don't open the door to any---"

All of a sudden, I just heard a gunshot through the mic.

Riley ran and locked the door.

She also closed the blinds.

I heard a kid screaming out there.

Suddenly, I realized something.

"My mom." I said.

Riley couldn't even say anything.

Then, all of the power just shut off.

"Don't say anything, Maya. They could find us." Riley told me.

I just cried as I heard the gunshots.

My mom could be dead.
