a little birdie once told me

a little birdie once told me of a girl
who loved to leap and spin and twirl
she'd dance all day to her favourite songs
she'd dance with the wind where she belonged

she'd whirl around and around and around
she'd spin all day long in any gown
she'd spring and jump and hop and bound
she'd let her body move with the music's sound

she adored dancing, you could see it on her face
she'd capture the dance floor in all her grace
she loved all dances, from ballroom to jive
in the spotlight, is where she thrived

then the day came when she could not dance
all because she took a chance
stuck in a wheelchair with nowhere to go
that little girl lost her glow

in the end, she was just too sad
that sadness is what drove her mad
if only that little girl that loved to dance
had somehow not taken that chance

a little birdie once told me of a girl
who loved to leap and spin and twirl
she'd dance all day to her favourite songs
she'd dance with the wind where she belonged
