ever since i started this story i've wanted to make it a realistic version of how what happened between luke and ashton would happen in real life, but i didn't because who doesn't like happy ending? i might explain why at the end of the chapter or maybe write a different chapter to explain why but for now, here's the realistic version.

Moving on like: I now admit I have not moved on yet, and I don't think I ever will even if I tried.

ashton was on his bed, having a panic attack at the moment, and he was sobbing so fucking hard, because he's not over luke, and he never was. yes he realized that last time, but this time he actually wants to tell luke and he is so fucking scared.

he's crying because fuck, luke has probably fucking moved on, and is happy with another guy, and probably doesn't have any feelings for him anymore, and doesn't give two shits about him, while he's here sobbing my eyes out for luke.

ashton stood up from his bed and decided to go to luke's place and tell him that he misses him, because ashton can't bare to fucking keep those three words in his heart anymore.

when ashton got there, he walked up to luke's apartment, and knocked on the door, with their secret code they use to have when they were children. ashton really did hope luke remembered it. ashton then heard a faint, "hold on ash, i'm coming!" which made him smile a little, and have a few more tears slip out, because luke does remember it.

when the door opened, luke was shirtless and in sweatpants, and he was smiling, but his smile instantly dropped when seeing the tears run down ashton's face.

"ash," he said softly before pulling the small boy inside his apartment and closed the door. he walked up to ashton, and asked, "ash what's wrong?"

"i-i," ashton stuttered and choked out a sob and said quietly, "i miss you, so fucking much that it hurts." he hazel eyes boy looked down, and covered his face with his hands, and cried. ashton didn't know why he was freaking out, or crying, but he just was.

there was a minute of silence, all you could hear was the rain and thunder outside, and ashton crying. then ashton felt luke's arms wrap around his waist, as he pulled ashton into a hug. ashton wrapped his arms around luke's neck and buried his face in luke's shoulder.

when ashton finally stopped crying, they stayed in each others arms for another minute, and ashton heard luke say, "ash i'm sorry but, i have a boyfriend, i... i moved on."

when hearing those words ashton's heart shattered in to a million pieces. of course, ashton did not get his hopes high, but he still had a little hope that luke didn't move on, but he did.

"i-i know, well now i do, b-but i just really wanted to get that off my shoulders, because - fuck - everyone knows i'm not over you, and i've been wanting to tell you that for so long, because it's practically eating my soul up, and i've tried to be in denial about it, and move on, but in the end, he was just a fucking rebound, and helped me realized that i'm not over you and i still love you." ashton said, feeling an endless amount of tears roll down his face.

"ash listen. i love you, but i'm not in love with you anymore. i did move on, but the most i can promise you we can be is just best friends like we use to be." luke said and ashton nodded. "are you alright with that ash?"

"y-yeah. i' o... i'm okay with that." ashton said and luke nodded. "i just really missed hanging out with you like we use too."

"so do i. the shit is, is that it won't really be the same anymore." luke said quietly and ashton nodded.

the boys hung out in luke's apartment the whole day and had many laughs and cries (mostly laughs.) it was actually less awkward than expected, but that's exactly what they wanted.

ashton checked the time, to see it was one in the morning, and stood up. "alright, it's late luke. i'm gonna go home."

"alright ash." luke said standing up as well. luke and ashton walked over to the door and stopped, facing each other and smiled. "i had a good time luke. thanks for letting me stay, even though i was having a major breakdown."

"it's fine ash." luke said and ashton nodded. the boys both went in for a hug, ashton wrapping his arms tightly around luke's neck, and luke tightly wrapping his arms around ashton's torso.

the boys stayed in the hug for a few minutes, and pulled away. luke hesitantly pressed a kiss to ashton's head. ashton blushed sheepishly and said a small, "bye."

"bye ash." luke said, and opened the door for ashton to exit. luke kept the door opened, and leaned against the frame, watching ashton waiting for the elevator to come up.

suddenly, ashton ran over and quickly pressed a kiss to luke's cheek, and said a quick, "bye," before running back to the elevator. luke lightly touched to spot where ashton kissed his cheek, and smiled.

luke watched ashton go in the elevator, and leave. luke frowned and sighed, going back in his apartment. luke sat on his couch, and put his head down, and ran his fingers through his hair.

luke saw his phone, and grabbed his phone, going to his texts, and saw ashton's contact name and typed and sent;

to: waffle :-)

i miss you

but before it could send luke quickly put his phone on airplane mode so the message couldn't send, and it didn't. luke groaned and felt tears swell his eyes, cause fuck, even though he said he moved on from ashton he didn't. but he didn't want to look like he was crawling back to the boy. and for some reason, it was just natural for most boys to not admit if they have feelings for their ex. they want to look tough, and act as if they moved on, even if they didn't. yes it was stupid, but that is how the mind of a boy works.

and all luke could do right now, was cry, because fuck. he missed his baby, and he couldn't really do anything about it.

ashton on the other hand, was in his car, having his head pressed against the steering wheel, and crying his eyes out. because luke truly does not have feelings for him anymore, and he can't do anything about it, but cry.

both boys were broken, and they couldn't do anything about it.
