Hey guys! This is an IMPORTANT author note and it's about Delilah's name. In this chapter you will learn Delilah's full name, and I beg you to try to pronounce it, for it will be greatly important in the near future.
It's pronounced "Oo-div-el-yatz-eh", and please do not search it up on translate or anything, because that will give the surprise twist away.
I sounded so formal there ._.

My eyes opened slowly to a beautiful winters night. The air was so cold it sent tingles down my spine of which I longed for more, and the musky scent of the woods hit my nose as I looked around. I was lying in the crisp white snow next to a rock the size of a small boulder that overlooked a stunning frozen lake. The ice reflected the light from above in all directions, making the trees surrounding the clearing look like they were attending a disco party.
"This place seems too familiar." I mumbled as I picked myself up and walked over to the rock without bothering to brush off the melting bits of snow attached to my dark clothes. I looked up into the starry night sky to see my favourite thing in existence staring back at me. "Hey Manny." I called, not expecting a reply.
"Hello dearest Delilah." A calm and soothing masculine voice spoke from above. Shock ran through me as my mind tried to process what was happening. Was I being tricked, or was Manny - the Man in the Moon - actually talking to me?
"M-Manny? I-Is that you?" I stuttered. No longer than a second after I spoke, the moon seemed to glow brighter and brighter until it was beaming beautifully in the sky.
"Yes my sweet Delilah. Fear not, my child, for I bring you no harm." With those words he soothed all the fear, worry and doubt that circled in my brain. When I settled down, which only took a second or two, I found myself giggling.
"Of course you wouldn't Manny! You would never harm anyone. You're too kind and gentle, and even if you did, I am certain it would be unintentional." I started saying, but then curiosity invaded my mind, and it was all buzzing over one question in particular. "But if I might ask, how could you be talking? Especially to someone as insignificant as me. You should be speaking to astrologers or someone who could make you recognised."
"Dear Delilah, you still believe you are worth nothing, that nobody needs you. I'm putting those thoughts to rest tonight. You are significant, and if you do not believe me now, you will soon come to realise what I mean.
"But for now you must understand, I am ever so deeply sorry for not speaking to you sooner. Every night I witness you be abused by that scum you call father, and every day I am able, I see your struggles in public places like your school. This saddens me, my sweet, but what makes me proud is seeing you smile and be strong. You bless everyone around you with your happy aura even though you do not feel happy at all. On top of all of your selfless actions, you try to make others feel better while you are experiencing such torture at that very moment, you even try to make me happy when you are being greatly abused, like earlier this evening. You, Delilah Udivlyat'sya, are the most deserving and amazing creature in the universe."
My mind had completely stopped functioning. The great Man the in Moon, was saying I was amazing and deserving. That could not possibly be me. I am not amazing or deserving, or anything like that, so I did the only thing I could do. I giggled his joke off. Until I realised what he had called me by. "What did you say after my name, Manny?"
"I said your real name, Delilah. Your full name is not Delilah Lee Scout like your adoptive parents had made you believe, your real name is Delilah Zima Udivlyat'sya. In time you will learn what it means and it's importance, but not at this moment." He replied, and if I had heard correctly, I could've sworn I could hear a smirk in his voice.
My subconscious finally kicked in and reminded me of where I am. "That's right, I'm having a dream aren't I! Oh, we're at my spot! Does this mean you can't talk outside this dream Manny?" I asked sadly.
In reply, I got a deep yet calm chuckle followed by his explanation. "Oh my precious Delilah, this is not a dream, rather an...out of body experience. Your mind has stayed here, while your body is currently flying over the Arctic Circle. When I dismiss you, your mind will return to its respectful home."
I shoved the confusion over why the hell my body was flying, let alone over the Arctic Circle, and focused on a more..unimportant topic instead. "May I ask you something Manny?"
"Of course, my dear." He happily replied.
"I do not mean for this to sound rude, but I am curious as to why you call me 'dear' and 'my sweet' and other kind words like that. Do we have some kind of relation?" I asked. My thoughts were everywhere as I thought I could be related to someone amazing like Manny, or something similar.
"Oh no, I just use those words as a formality. Unfortunately we are not related, my dear, otherwise you would be up here in space - a ball of gas humans call a star." He explained. Oh well, there goes that idea. "But that does not mean we can't be friends."
My heart stopped beating and my legs gave way, causing me to sit lamely on the rock. "F-Friends? B-But..." I began to say, but my mouth just turned the words into nothing. Manny began to fade in colour as I tried to regain control over myself.
"Delilah! What ever is the matter?!" He asked, concerned. He's acting so nice to me. Maybe he actually wants to be...my friend.
"Y-You want to be my friend!?" I pointed my index finger towards my torso, trying to grasp the concept that someone - let alone Manny - wanted to be my friend.
"Yes my dear. For now on we shall be the best of friends." He concluded while shining brighter and brighter. An enormous smile crossed my face as I realised I have a friend.
I have a friend...
I have a friend!
I HAVE A FRIEND!
Not only a friend, but a best friend! And he's Manny! The Man In the Moon! I was so excited I hopped off the rock and started jumping around cheering that I have a friend while Manny's deep chuckles boomed over the surrounding snow-covered woods.
"My dear it is time for you to rest now. You must prepare for the reunion!" He called happily after a few minutes. I stopped jumping and turned to him with a look of confusion.
"Reunion? What reunion?"
"All in good time, my precious treasure. You will find out all in good time." Those were the last words I heard from Manny that night. As soon as he finished his sentence, my body felt numb and my mind drew a blank as my vision turned black. I smiled as the coldness began to invade my body as I fell into the darkness, but I didn't mind - I welcomed it, and loved every second.
