Find 'x', his homework said. Here it is, he thought while circling the 'x' with his pencil. He haphazardly threw his pencil and rested his head on top of his study table, eyes falling on the window on his right. The young boy pondered about what his father did as he spoke.

The weather was great. The legendary Dragon's Tear Lake that was known as the biggest lake in the world was glittering under the sun as if it had millions of diamonds beneath its clear blue surface. It was said that his family from his grandmother's side was known as the protector of the lake, which was why their house was located not far from the said lake.

Putting his pencil on the bridge of his nose, Gohan pondered on how different his days would be if his father was around. Though Gohan would prefer peaceful days, he wouldn't say no to training, sparring, fishing, even learning new techniques.

Or even becoming a Super Saiyan like his father ...

He remembered it clearly – how his father's hair morphed into the shade of gold, his dark eyes changed into sea turquoise, and his body emitting vibrant light, overwhelming power – the ultimate form that had been known as a legend until his father proved the truth.

The memory was still clear up until that day that his body trembled upon the thrill; how the sensation sent shivers down to his bone marrow. The overflowing Ki stripped him from the ability to stand up straight.

Would he be able to achieve that form one day?

Even though Gohan wasn't a pure Saiyan, the warrior blood was still running in him. Opening both of his palms, he shut his eyes down and started to gather his energy down to the centre of his body, picturing the form in his head.

When nothing changed the past minutes, he sighed. Taking his pencil, he tediously twirled it. He wanted to become a scientist one day and he had to study a lot for that. However, the thrill of battle was his blood call.

He wanted to fight. He wanted to feel that thrill once again ...

And that was the exact moment when his stomach churned into a sickening feeling. Pupil dilated, body shuddered, he felt his heart shrunk, stomach disappeared.

This Ki is...

As if answering his thought, the phone on his desk blared and Gohan wasted no time to pick it up.

"Do you feel it too, Gohan!? That incredible Ki...?" asked Krillin on the other side of the phone.

"Y-yeah...! It sure doesn't feel like it's a good Ki, either..."

"No, it isn't... and it's getting closer, fast..." Krillin continued, "You must be vaguely picking up on it, as well... we've felt it before. This Ki belongs to Frieza, doesn't it...?"

The Ki undoubtedly belonged to no other than the self-pronounced ruler of the universe, Frieza. The enemy that should have been defeated by his father back on planet Namek.

The other warriors must have sensed it as well. Krillin told him to meet up on the spot and he hung the phone, immediately rushed into his room, and changed into the Saiyan combat gear he attained back in planet Namek, the one he wore during his battle with Frieza.

Though he felt bad about ignoring his mother, Gohan didn't answer his mother as he changed into the Saiyan's battle gear. Brandishing both of his fists skywards, he flew away. He flew straight to the source of the malicious Ki.

His heart was thudding wildly as it was engulfed by fear, and it was increasing the closer he got to the place where Frieza might be landing.

No, this wasn't the kind of battle he was looking for ...
