So for adding you just times the bottom (denominator) together. In this example it's 3 and 4 so you times them to get 12. Then you times 12 by the top(numerator) . 12x11=132
12x5=60
Then you add the top which is 60 and 132 to get 192 but you don't add the bottom so that it stay as 12 don't add because you will get 24!

For subtracting it's the same but you subtract once you get the denominators to be the same !
