"Annabeth, would you do me the honor of marrying me?" I asked, getting down on one knee. Annabeth's eyes grew in shock and she pulled me to my feet. She shook her head.

"C'mon Annabeth! We can live together, finish school, go to college, and be in peace." I said. She shook her head again, her blonde curls bouncing around.

"You know that I love you right?" I nodded. I didn't know where this was going. Annabeth looked like she was going to cry.

"Annabeth what are you doing?" I asked, feeling my own eyes water.

"I can't be with you Percy. I can't spend the rest of my life on the run and looking over my shoulder every five seconds. That's what happens with you. I have done this since I was seven and I'm tired of it. I'm sorry Percy but I have to go." Annabeth kissed me one last time before she turned around and left. I watched the direction she was walking away long after she was gone.

Out of no where, people in costumes arrested me. Like full on 'hands up! Don't move!' kind of arrest. I didn't struggle or anything. I didn't want to struggle. I was defeated. She was gone, and I couldn't do anything to get her back.
