A slight twinge of a headache, Peter resolved to take some aspirin before he left for tennis in order to prevent it from getting worse. He needed to be ready for his match, if he lost, he may not be invited to the upcoming Open. The fourteen year old sat at the table, eating some cereal, once he finished, he hopped into his families' sedan. Only a minute later, his mother opened the driver seat's door and sat down.
"You ready to go?" she asked as she adjusted the mirror to see behind her.
"Yeah," Peter replied, twiddling his fingers.
"Nervous?" she smiled, he nodded slightly, "don't worry, just keep your cool and play your game."
Their fifteen minute drive ended, his headache had not gotten any better, he hopped out of his car, waved his mom goodbye as she drove away for some errands, she would be back in time for the match. He realized he needed to use the restroom, he walked inside the recreation park's public restrooms.
As he washed his hands, he noticed something odd, the flow of the water was cockeyed. The water was falling slightly diagonally, but the facet was pointing straight down, Peter stared in confusion, suddenly, the water began to bend, it was going upward and then dropping down into Peter's hands. Peter stared aghast.
"What on earth..." Peter stuttered. He withdrew his hands and the water returned to falling straight down, like it should. Peter scratched his dirty blonde hair in confusion, he extended his hands toward the running water, as they got closer, the water began to bend and move unnaturally, Peter was shocked, he withdrew his hands and they returned to their normal state.
"My hands..." Peter told himself, "control...water?"
He stuck out his hands towards the running water and consciously demanded the water to go into a loop. To his absolute surprise, the water stream twirled and did a loop, the loop held as the running tube of water went downward than proceeded to loop and land in the sink.
"This is incredible," Peter said with awe, he left the restroom and breathed in the summer air. He could not stop thinking about his experience, he could not help but stick out his hands like some sort of hero, he was surprised by a slight gust of wind exiting his hand.
No way, Peter thought, this cannot be real...
Peter continued to throw air punches, he kept getting results, he was creating wind, he was ecstatic. He had no idea what was happening, but he was able to control wind. Then an idea ringed in Peter's head, he pulled out a tennis ball from his bag and tossed into the air, he proceeded to push wind behind the ball, the ball's speed rapidly increased, Peter was exhilarated by his discovery. He walked over to an empty court, instead of his usual warm ups, Peter began practicing hitting the ball with his racket while also boosting the ball with wind. As he practiced, he got better at it, than he heard his coach calling his name, beckoning him to his match.
Peter rushed to his match, he saw his mom in the stands watching, he was excited to show her what he could do. He tossed his ball up to serve and smashed the ball with his racket, the ball went rocketing into his opponent's side, the ball was so fast, his opponent swung his racket way too late. One score for Peter, his opponent looked at Peter with shock and fear, he had never faced such a fast ball. Peter looked happily at his mother, who seemed taken aback. The match continued, Peter won by a landslide, he was so happy.
After the match, Peter found his mom.
"Wow," she exclaimed, "That's the best I've ever seen you play, see, you had no reason to worry!"
"Yeah I guess," Peter chuckled, suddenly, a man in a suit walked up to Peter, he gulped nervously as he looked up at the intimidating figure.
"Hello Peter, Hello Mrs. Gray," the man greeted, "You both need to come with me."
"For what?" Peter's mom replied.
"That was some interesting tennis, kid," the man replied, Peter gasped, he was sure that the guy knew his secret. The man grabbed Peter and began walking away, his mother quickly followed.
I'm in trouble...Peter thought as the man's grip tightened...What exactly is happening?
