I am 16. I live on a ranch in the northern part of Colorado. Working with other ranchers and farmers really opens your eyes. It always amazes me when I watch my dinner walk before me. It never ceases to amaze me how crops are cared for and harvested so that others may eat. It's great to be apart of that. It always makes me happy to know I'm feeding others with my hard work.

Farmers sit in tractors and columbines for 10-12 hours a day. And work cattle. And then they come home and sleep and wake to do it again. It's always the same, and yet it's never the same. For me, a day is always a mystery because so many things could go wrong, or right. Anything could happen, and that's always the best part of the day. And then laying down and closing my eyes knowing I changed someone's life, even though I don't know them or ever met them. That to me is what the heart of America is. The hard work and determination. The long days and late nights. That is America to me.
