Chapter 28

The next morning at 4 o'clock we were all up and running we drove to the harbour were Jim and the other guy I think his name was August or something was and stopped behind their car. Jim got out and walked over to the passenger side and climbed in, Angelo and I sat in the back looking at him

"Hey kiddo" he said and smiled

"Hey Jim" I said back

"So what do you have?" Angelo asked

"Well there is a bigger problem than Big Pauli or his men" Jim said and turned around looking outside

"Crane is here" he replied and everything went silent...

"What do you mean Crane is here?" Angelo asked Jim as he looked confused

"Exactly what I said Crane is the one in charge of the shipments" Jim replied Angelo held the bridge of his nose in the air and closed his eyes. I really didn't know what he was thinking at this moment.

"But I thought Crane was dead?" I asked remembering Angelo say his father killed him

"Didn't we all" Angelo's reply came and I looked at him

"So what's the plan Boss?" Ricardo asked him

"We stay here and keep an eye out for Big Pauli" he said and looked at all of us.

After a whole day of sitting here doing nothing looking and waiting as the darkness was closing in on us Angelo looked at me and then looked passed me

"Here we go" he said and we all looked to where he was looking

Big Pauli came with all his men and climbed out of the cars

"Ricardo get on the line with James and tell him to get the men ready but they must wait for my signal" he said and Ricardo held the phone to his ear.

I heard Ricardo speak in the background but was still looking at Big Pauli talking to some men. After a while I saw another bulk man coming out from behind the ship but I didn't know who he was.

"There's Crane" Jim spoke up and Angelo looked at him through the binoculars so that was Crane and seeing Big Pauli speaking with him and walking to the inside of the building.

"Okay Ricardo you and Jim go east to the border of the harbour and look what is going on there I will go with Santoro to the west side and please don't let anyone see you if they do then there will be hell to pay I will do as planned" Angelo said and we all climbed out the car he walked up to me and handed me a gun

"If anything goes wrong or anyone tries anything you just shoot" he said to me

"Wait what was planned?" I asked and took the gun from Angelo's hands

"Don't worry everything will be fine" he said

We made our way west as Jimmy and Ricardo went to the east we were like cats in the night not making a sound. Angelo and I made our way passed guards standing and watching we moved to the other side and heard a deep voice laughing and joking we made our way towards the chattering.

"You know everyone thinks the shipment is going to be here tomorrow but I'm glad we don't have to wait" Big Pauli said

"Yeah luckily it's here in a safe place I still wonder what happened to Mortelli" Crane replied

"Well whatever happened to him he was always the one to back out before anything goes wrong" Big Pauli said. Angelo and I looked at each other knowing better

We saw at the far point Jimmy and Ricardo also standing there and watching they looked at us and Angelo nodded his head to them. That must be the signal and Ricardo picked up his phone and said something quiet.

"Santoro whatever happens please just stay here Jim will come and get you" he whispered

"Angelo what-"but before I could say something I saw Angelo put his gun in his holster in the side and straightened his suit

"Well here goes nothing" he said and touched my shoulder. What was he doing?

"Angelo" I whispered with wide eyes and he stepped into the clearing just then Big Pauli and Crane's eyes snapped to him

"Now boys didn't I tell you not to do anything without me?" He asked the two men and all of a sudden men with guns came out in the clearing pointing it at Angelo

"Ah Mr Don what a nice surprise?" Big Pauli said standing up

"Angelo what are you doing?" I said softly I saw Ricardo and Jim go back as other men took their place and I stood there just listening so afraid that something will happen to Angelo.

"Mind if I join?" Angelo said and Crane looked at him

"Just as witty as your father" Crane said and they all stood there just talking I felt movement beside me and wanted to scream but luckily saw it was Jim

"Hey kiddo everything alright?" he asked me

"What is Angelo doing?" I asked bewildered

"He knew you wouldn't approve but he is creating a distraction" Jim said and pointed all around us I saw men everywhere with guns also just waiting

"You could have let me know what you were planning" I said and looked back at Angelo

"Don't worry kiddo after tonight it will be all over" Jim said and just then we saw Big Pauli pointing a gun at Angelo and he just stood there as normal as ever not even worried about the gun

"Now tell me Crane how did you do it?" Angelo asked him

"Ah you see your father was blind and Big Pauli here helped me I'm actually glad for that but you see now was his time to end" and just as Crane finished he also pulled out a gun and pointed it at Big Pauli. Big Pauli's eyes were like saucers and he was outraged

"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" he yelled and then pointed the gun at Crane and then at Angelo he didn't know what to do.

"You see now that the cargo is already here I don't need you here anymore I got everything I wanted and the bastard son made it easy for me" Crane said gesturing to Angelo

"Fuck you" Big Pauli screamed at high voice I didn't want to see this.

"I knew something was up with you" Angelo replied

"Shut your fucking mouth Don" Crane yelled to Angelo

"Jimmy you have to do something?" I said knowing something was going to go wrong

"I know come" he said and took my hand I ran with him to Ricardo and I saw men everywhere just then a shot echoed through the silence of the night and after that the piece was erupted with more gun shots.

All hell broke loose...
