Sometimes, a moment of distraction is all it takes to end a life...

Come along. We have to go." Zelda urged them, urging them faster through the halls,

"W-wait, Mom, where are we going?" Erick asked worriedly as they entered their room. Zelda began gathering a few things for them quickly,

"You two are going to get on Domino and go to Ordon. You will be safe there until I can catch up." She explained quickly, grabbing her old rapier out of a locked case. Mira looked like she was holding back tears,

"But what are you doing?" Zelda looked up then, before walking over and crouching in front of her, taking her hands,

"Hey, there's no need to worry, sweetheart. I just have to protect our home. I'll come and see you both soon." She said, kissing her forehead, "Now, come on. We don't have much time."

Erick grabbed a few things, stuffing them into a bag. He was ready in no time, and they set off again.

Zelda ushered them ahead of her as they sprinted down the corridor and down the staircase, heading towards the front doors.

Which slammed shut moments before they reached them. Zelda stopped, turning around as she pushed them behind her.

A black smoke filled the space at the top of the stairs, where they had just been. In only a few moments, a figure cloaked in shadow emerged, nothing visible except for piercing red eyes. Erick gasped, backing up against the door,

"Hello Zelda." It growled in an airy voice, starting to float down the stairs, "Miss me?" Zelda didn't so much as blink as it came closer. It continued with a snicker after a moment, "I don't see your precious husband anywhere. I wonder where he could be." He said with a knowing tone, "You are just so...vulnerable." He said, showing animal-like teeth. She held out her blade, the tip inches from it's face,

"I can kill you on my own." She said bitterly. "Just not today," she muttered, noticing Erick take Mira's hand behind her. She grabbed her son's arm quickly and the castle walls faded from sight around them.

Once he felt the soft grass around her feet, Erick opened his eyes. Their castle was now almost out of eyesight. He tried to slow down his heartbeat as he looked over at his sister, who looked woozy from the trip. Their mother, however, looked only distressed, eyes glued on their home and the surrounding town,

"I just had to make sure both of you were safe.." She murmured, more to herself. Erick walked over to her, hugging her waist,

"I know, Mom, and it will be ok, I promise. We'll get our home back." She looked down at him and ran a hand through his hair with a small smile, nodding,

"Um, Mommy?" They heard Mira say from a few feet away. Zelda looked up, following her daughter's gaze, and after a few moments her arms fell away from Erick,

"Mom?" He asked, confused at her expression. He turned, looking where the rest of them were.

A small group of horses had been treading across the field, but had came to a stop in curiosity at their sudden appearance, and in the front....

"Who is that..?" Mira asked quietly, turning to the others when she didn't get an answer, "Erick?" She turned to him, who's mouth had dropped slightly and eyes had widened,

"Oh my Goddesses..." Zelda murmured quietly, her eyes tear-filled. She walked past them slowly at first, but broke out into a run when the rider dismounted,

"Brother!" Mira said, clearly confused as she pulled on his sleeve. His voice sounded forced as he looked at her and choked out one word,

"Dad."
